* Registration of handguns? No
* Licensing of owners of handguns? No

I've only dealt with Jeff Co. Wasn't aware other counties in the state didn't have that part on their form. Good to know.

In Alabama, you can buy the gun and take it home. A Pistol Permit gives you permission to carry it concealed. You dont have to have one per se but if you dont the gun and the bullets can not be in any proximity of each other in your car.

this is not what we're talking about though.

These 19 year old kids obviously didn't have any type of a CCP.

On the flip side, you can carry open in most places in the state. Barring government property, airports, bars, public gatherings etc..

It's really up to the County Sheriff. Some still have a place to list your pistols on the application but don't actually require that you do list them to be approved.

Yah.. that's why I never listed all. Once you have the permit, you may carry any pistol that is legal.

that's just assbackwards if true (just like the state of Alabama) I kid, I kid

but seriously, how can they not allow you to carry your loaded firearm inside your own personal property (your vehicle) in alabama? I know they do in other southern states (florida, louisiana, etc) without any type of a CWP.

This. Florida,however,is a strictly CC state as the OC legislation hasn't passed yet.

You're wrong about other states. Most states, have a concealed carry law and many states reciprocate with other states, allowing you to carry concealed in their states with your home state's liscense. Louisiana is one of which that reciprocates with Alabama.

Right-To-Carry Law Type: Shall Issue. Senate Bill 954, passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bush in April 1999, allows residents from other states who are licensed to carry concealed weapons/firearms to carry their weapons in Florida. The one provision, however, is that those other states must be willing to recognize and honor concealed weapon or firearm licenses issued by the State of Florida so that Florida licensees enjoy the same rights and benefits when they travel to those other states.

About La. not having concealed carry permits. Everything I've read alludes to them having them. If they don't, then I've either misread or had old information.

Florida is only one of about 10 states that don't permit OC. It used to be legal in Florida until Janet Reno came in and got the law changed to only CC.
