Your QB was the first pick in the NFL Draft, and you likewise had a DT who went in the first round.

You also have Neiko Thorpe, AJ Greene, Ben Tate, Ontario McCaleb, Josh Harris, Cory Lemonier, as well as a few others in the NFL.

That team had NFL-caliber talent.

But not A LOT of NFL-caliber talent

AJ Greene... El Matador

Ben Tate was 2009

I agree with you, but that is also a part of what makes a great coach. Getting all the bad-asses to buy your bullshite.

I never said there had to be a lot in my OP:

quote:

Can you name me a single team in the BCS era that didn't win a national championship with NFL-caliber talent scattered around?

I simply said "NFL-caliber talent scattered around." 2010 Auburn had NFL-caliber talent scattered around.

I would put Miles ahead of Richt but an argument can be made either way.

Sustained Success - Push
Division Titles - Richt (Big disparity here but to be fair Miles has had to go up against the best program in football every year since 07)
SEC Titles - Push
BCS Titles - Miles (1-0 which puts him ahead for me)

No. A year ago everyone wanted him fired. He had one good year with a team with a bunch of upper classman on it.

Oh I agree - you can't really separate recruiting when doing an *overall* measure of performance (well maybe with Saban but only because he's had four straight number 1 classes***). I'm just curious to see where he and others fall in things like XOs and player development.

***Here's the top 2 roster rankings in the SEC as well as the nation (5 year average) and the difference is pretty fricking astounding:

Team-------'14---'13---'12---'11---'10---Avg.
1.Alabama- 1 -- 1 -- 1 --- 1 ---- 5 -- 1.8
2t.FSU. ---- 4 -- 10 -- 3 -- 2 ---- 9 -- 5.6
2t.Florida -- 9 --- 3 -- 4 -- 11 --- 1 -- 5.6

As far as player development, Saban is one of the best there is. Just look at how many players he's put into the first round since 2008. As far as Xs and Os goes, there's no one better on the defensive side of the football. Alabama has led the SEC in Total Defense every year since 2008. That is unprecedented in the history of this conference.

I think the one thing Saban lacks, and it's pretty important, is in-game, shift-on-the-fly, adjustments..especially in high-pressure ballgames. Either doesn't do enough, or get's too cute. That's 5 hyphens, biatches..

Gus at 3 is a complete joke. He has one "good" year winning 6 games by a TD, or less and needed a miracle in both the UGA games (against a TERRIBLE DEFENSE) and against Alabama and lost to a mediocre LSU team and the most overrated Champion in the BCS era.

Get the frick outta here....

Gimmick coaches are just that. UGA will bring them back down to reality this year when they finally make the trip back to Athens.
