It's not hard to hit 8-10 wins consistently at those schools. Plenty of in-state talent. Both would be powerhouses with better coaches.
And who would you suggest are better coaches?

Then I guess on a fairly consistent basis over last, say, 8-10 years, that would be AU, UA, LSU, UGA, UF...and maybe SCar (dunno).

Hard to argue.
So many great coaches in this conference.
Though I'd take exactly one above Sumlin.

6 finishes in the top 10.
Only 3 seasons out of the top 25.

I'm not arguing that Georgia isn't a powerhouse. I'm merely stating that Georgia could be so much more. Georgia is the only "powerhouse" from the SEC who hasn't at least played for a national championship in the BCS era.
Richt is a good coach but he is hardly a great one.
I mean, any dumb arse can finish in the Top 10 at a school like Georgia. Just look at Mike Shula and Mike Dubose at Alabama. Two of the more incompetent coaches in Alabama history and yet they both managed 10-win seasons with Top 10 finishes.

I don't disagree with that. UGA underachieved in the BCS era. There were a lot of circumstances though. More than just "Richt isn't a good coach."

With the possibilities of #1 & #8, I disagree with Athlon.

Probably accurate if based on performance and excluding potential.
Gus jumps to front if this is a ranking that includes projected success.

You have to be an alter, trying to create an argument. No one is that stupid.

After we lost this year, I was really hoping this would be Richt's year to win it all

Having Muschamp above 13 is a joke. The guy went 6-6 and 4-8 at Florida-- that's the two Worst seasons in 30 years-- seriously, forget Ron Zook that's worse than Galen Hall, Will Muschamp is a significantly worst coach than Dennis Franchione or Mike Shula.
It takes an absolute idiot to run a Florida or Alabama into the ground, literally any competent coach in America could average 8+ games and bring in a top 10 class to Gainesville every single season, there is not a single thing- not recruiting, not motivation, not strategy, that Will Muschamp does well other than run a defense-- he's a brilliant DC who somehow fooled the best AD in America into believing he wasn't a troglodyte as a HC.
