National my arse. I live in a transient area with millions of people. I see gear from different teams and especially on Saturdays in the fall at sports bars watching games. Very rarely see anything Bama.

Vast majority of Bama gear is bought by gumps in Alabama or surrounding areas and that is that. There is no national bandwagon of gumps. Most college fans probably think repping Bama is a bit embarrassing outside of the deep south.

All these anecdotal stories are nice, but you need only look at merch sales. UA sits at #2 nationally while AU is nowhere to be found. Case closed.

The massive increase in revenue in Saban's tenure was only slightly improved because of people in the state. Alabama is a massive national brand now, so the bandwagon has brought in a ton of money as well from around the country.

yep, I think there are more Alabama fans in the Jackson area than JSU/OM/and MSU combined.

Also in my hometown the ppl that didn't go to college are all bama fans now and not LSU.

Yep....lots mad Aubs in this thread. One of their best seasons and they still lose money while Bama continues to print it.

I'm in Greensboro, NC. I'm not lying just because I'm Auburn. I see many more Auburn t shirts and car stickers here than I do Alabama. Not that I see that many of either, but more Auburn stuff.

I don't care who sells more baseball hats. Auburn merchandising may care, but I don't care how many fans we have or where they are. I'm happy with our fanbase.

I can play this game, too. I live in Aurora, CO and I see more Alabama sportswear than I do Colorado or Colorado State.

You can't prove me wrong because you're not there.

I live in the Washington DC area and there are a TON of BAMA fans in this area. Old Dominion brewery is literally packed with Tide fans for each game w/ standing room only. Even my pastor and his wife are life long BAMA fans. More BAMA fans in DC than any other SEC school. Btw, Im from DC originally.

You live in a place overrun by Cubans. Cosmopolitan cities don't count because they're not part of real America.

Awesome for Bama. Cool! I was just stating an observation. I see maybe 4-5 Auburn things here to 1-2 Bama things per month. Not that big of a deal. I never said either team was more prevalent than the in-state teams which is 99.999% of teams represented here on shirts, hats, and cars.(Carolina/Duke/NC State/Wake Forest/ECU).

I lived in Colorado Springs and your statement does not prove anything. There is very little fan support of any of the Universities out there.

Alabama mechandizing support is regional in nature. I do believe their fans buy the T-shirts and baseball hats more than any other team in the SEC. All you have to do is go to a Mall in Alabama and count the people wearing Bama gear. The royalties would be much higher is they could trademark houndstooth. There is not a 40+ year old female bama fan that doesn't own something with a houndstooth print.

Totally different sports with totally different markets. Bama is the LA Lakers of College Football right now

Key words here are Right Now. I like that u mentioned the Lakers because they have since faded out in popularity since they have been losing. Now the Clippers is the new fad. Who would have imagined that 10 years ago Funny how these things come and go in sports

* Gymnastics, $421,953

* Baseball, $232,900

* Softball, $181,433

* Volleyball, $15,470

* Women's tennis, $1,002

Don't forget App State, surprisingly you see gear for that school all over the state.

I don't know whats going on over in Greensboro, but I live just outside of Raleigh and I see a lot more Bama stuff than I do Auburn. Then again we tend to pay more attention to the team we support over others. That is most likely why all of these anecdotal stories, about the volume of what people are seeing, don't really mean much.
