Also, is it possible that the fact that your circle of friends is made up of a disproportionate number of Alabama vs auburn vs whatever team fans influences the places you go and hear about as well as the people you run into and the results tend to swing towards that dominating group - disregarding the home state team as they will always have big presence.

Random question, do you ever see any other SEC gear out in Greensboro? I thought I'd see more South Carolina gear around Raleigh, but never do. I was surprised that where I live (about 15 minutes east of Raleigh) it's about 50% ECU stuff. SEC wise it's all Bama and Auburn and maybe a random UT hat and shirt here and there.

So because you don't see Bama gear in Miami, they are not a national brand. Okay.

Hey, I don't ever see Notre Dame gear in Birmingham, so they're not a national brand.

While I am a bama fan this is an honest experience... You are just going to have to take my word on this.

I went to Telluride last year to go skiing. Went with some Texas grads/fans.While we ran into alot of Texas fans, few aggies. (Texans swarm colorado) We also met and saw alot of Bama fans.

My Texas friends even remarked how impressed they were with the amount of Bama fans/alums we ran into.

Yes Auburn fans, we talked to them and confirmed that they were alums.

To all non-bama/Auburn fans...Anything positive for the University of Alabama will be shat on by Auburn fans within seconds.

Alabama moves Wal-Mart jerseys at a rate higher than all other SEC schools combined.

You do realize this is big country? Not everyone lives in the Miami area. Are you saying Miami speaks for every city in every state in America?

Oh and the Auburn fans in here ripping Bama fans for buying gear are probably the ones who have different auburn shirts for every game during the season, a flag or two flying on their car, a flag in their yard, a Auburn tailgate tent, and a tiger tail hanging out of their trunk.

This is true, and since we're using anecdotal evidence I can say within my circle of friends it's about 50/50 Alabama/Auburn fans, of the ones that are fans of either, and the Auburn fans have way more Auburn gear than the Bama fans.
