Arky fans, remind me, how is Petrino better than Nutt again?

So you won 10 regular season games before losing to a top flight Big Ten team in a bowl... just like in 2006. And, in 2006, you won one more SEC game and the SEC West so, while y'all are all excited about the Sugar Bowl (as you should be), it's no greater an accomplishment than actually winning your division with a 7-1 SEC record.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Bobby Petrino has done or will do for your program that Houston Nutt couldn't. And before you spout off about the Sugar Bowl being a BCS bowl, remember that bowl selections have as much to do with how well your team played as they do with how well everyone else in your conference played.

To be clear: I'm not asking anyone to like or hate anyone. If you hate Nutt, fine. If you love Petrino, fine. I, personally, don't really like or dislike either. But in terms of what they've done for the Arkansas program, they're not much different.

at two of the first three posts being from State and OM fans. At the end of the day, while we may have lost to OSU, you guys are still below us in the SEC and West pecking order still.

You beat us one year out of three and you think you fricking own us. Get a grip. As far as programs go, Ole Miss and Arkansas might as well be dead even both in past accomplishments (aside from our 21 bowl wins which is way more than your 12 because y'all suck a-hole in bowls) and program potential.

Arkansas - 12-23-1 in bowls
Ole Miss - 21-12

Good record for Ole Miss. However, most of these bowls came in the 50's and 60's. They have been to 5 bowls the last 10 years. quit living in the past(way far past) black bears.
Arkansas, that's just sad...

Is this even a serious post? Id start with taking two different programs to BCS bowls, including one shared program that he took to the Sugar Bowl in year 3 when Nutt couldnt do it in over a decade.

Just for starters.

At the end of the day, you posed an excellent question, DC, and I am entirely unable to answer that without admitting some things which I cannot allow myself to come to terms with. I concede this to you and would rather change the topic. Here, allow me to do so by making some sort of ad hominem attempt to dismiss the original post entirely with a distracting, irrelevant assessment of the Ole Miss Rebels football program. Also, may I please see photographs of you in the nude. Thank you.

Was it real winning the SEC West twice, or was that just a dream?

Actually, about half of them came in the 50's and 60's. For the past 20 years, Ole Miss has had a bowl berth, on average, every other season which, isn't at the same clip as say Alabama or Florida, isn't nearly as pathetic as y'all want it to be.

You're still not answering the question.

Like I said, I'm ambivalent towards Nutt at best. I don't really care for the guy. But I do think y'all act like a bunch of obsessive, illogical twats when talking about him. The Nutt/Petrino double-standard amongst Arkansas fans is pretty fricking wild.

breakdown by decade:

30's - 1 game
40's - 1
50's/60's - 17 games (of 33 total bowl games)
70's - 2
80's - 3
90's - 5
2000's - 5

so since 1990, that would average a bowl game every 2 years. And that is also a total of 10 of a possible 33 bowl games since then. but hey, who's counting

lets compare the last 3 years between Nutt and Petrino...

See the improvement each year we hogs are having under Petrino...That is called building something.

See the decline the rebels are having each year under Nutt....That is called tearing something down.

Now who would you rather have?

What did Bobby Petrino do exactly that got you that Sugar Bowl bid? Please, I'd love to hear it.

Once again, bowl bids are determined by TWO things: how well your team played and how well the REST OF THE CONFERENCE played. Since the SEC East sucked balls this year and Auburn got the BCS Bowl Bid, Arkansas gets the Sugar Bowl. In 2007, you WON THE WEST with a 7-1 record (better than this season's 6-2) and were passed up for a Sugar Bowl bid by a good Georgia team.

How is that any of Petrino or Nutt's doing? Coaches can only control what happens to their team. If you win a lot of games but are still 2nd or 3rd in the SEC, you might get left out of the BCS (look at 7-1 Ole Miss going to the Cotton Bowl after 2003, for example).

Any a-hole who actually watches football objectively knows this.

Petrino is a much better coach. He brought Louisville and Arky to BCS bowls. Louisville and Arky. 2 not so legendary programs to BCS games, 1 win, in less than 10 years. What has Nutt done? He did get McFadden and Felix Jones...
