I don't know if he said that or not, but what he did say is that he wasn't leaving. He had a new contract that included a raise and a non-compete clause, but he kept putting off signing it. When concerns were expressed to him, he told everyone not to worry, because he would sign it soon and wasn't going anywhere.
He turned down Alabama, so there was no reason to think he was going anywhere anytime soon.
