This would be the worst possible time to fire a Head Coach. They will wait until after the season ends to fire him if they do. My guess is if they win all will be forgotten and forgiven. This is Arkansas and a football coach. Look at their past Govenors. Most news organizations don't have time for this story.
Edwin Edwards said "they'd have to catch me with a dead girl or live boy to take my job."

so there assistant they named as interim coach doesnt mean anything? huh...have you ever heard of football before?
ill agree that i dont think he is gone but when your head coach is on ANY kind of leave and a interim is named, said coach is THE head coach

Of course he won't be fired. Only smart people know this. Unfortunately, there's not many of those people who post on here. Let them get it in. I know I would be if it happened at another school and that's only fair. He's still coaching and he will be for quite some time as long as he continues to win.
I wouldn't be so sure and definite on BP continuing to coach at Arkansas.
It appears that BP knew that it would be bad to be caught with Dorrell. So he left the scene after telling another driver that he shouldn't call 911 and had the person driving him to the hospital drop Dorrell off near her car before he met with the state trooper (who provides security for the footbal season apparently). Next BP told his boss that he was alone for the accident and then had a press conference a few days later where he stated that he was alone (since he didn't know that the other driver called 911 and there was another trooper checking out the accident). Then he didn't tell his boss that his recently hired assistant (who was hired on the first day the job opened apparently) was the person riding with him during the accident until right before the police report was released. Oh and that he crashed, not on a curve like previously stated, by on the straight bit before a curve (at least that's arguable).
So he lied to the public and most importantly, to his superior at the very least. There is also evidence that he attempted to cover up the true circumstances of the crash using a state trooper contact and that he might have violated sexual harassment policy. OR at the very minimum, BP appeared to act improperly in the hiring of Ms. Dorrell.
And that doesn't even get into the sticky business of whether this young lady is/was engaged to another staff member at Arkansas.
Just saying, it looks pretty bad from my viewpoint.

They (Hog fans) have got a severe case of denial at the moment.

IMO, they won't fire the guy unless there is some damning evidence that isn't released yet.
I am enjoying this though.
Muy hilarioso.

my question: Why would Arkansas want him? I know, I know...BCS bowl, #5 ranking.. BMFP et al. but what has he shown (besides the ability to x&o pts...not necessarily stop them though) that indicates he'll not put Arkansas behind the eight ball in the next 2-3 yrs. Some people learn from their mistakes, some think it's their right make them and have everyone else work around them.
Even if not for the legal aspect of the termination, I would think the distractions (home life) will mount to the point that the on the field product suffer.

She graduated in '08 which was the first few months of his time here so that's doubtful.
Prior to last week she worked for the Razorback Foundation which is basically the fundraising arm of the athletic department. They are heavily involved with the football team obviously so they most likely met that way.

After watching the statement tonight from the Arky Athletic Director, I think Patrino's toast. The guy looked really ticked off to me to no small measure from Patrino's lack of candor and misleading statements of his "accident". Regardless whether they think he is a coaching "messiah" or not, at some point the image of the university comes to the forefront. Patrino's past indiscretions, combined with this the latest, is likely do be more than the administration can tolerate. If he is canned, I would not be too quick to assume other schools are lined up for the services of this despicable little man. Whether the Arkansas fanatics think so or not, there's lots of good coaches and some of them actual have a little character and integrity. If he is not canned, and I'll say it again...it will only be a matter of time until Patrino either makes the university a laughing stock or embarrases them by dumping them for other employers cut from the same cloth and willing to bump his pay. If Arkansas is smart, they'll cut their losses, dump his butt and replace him with a good yet honorable, coach...they can and they should.

Any other woman that wanted the girl's job can sue the University and claim BP implied they would get it if they played his game. Their attorney would try to show that they didn't get the job because they didn't sleep with BP. His relationship with the girl that got the job opens the door for such a suit. Any woman that has applied for any job where BP was doing the hiring can sue by trying to make the same case.

You have an AD that doesn't like nor trusts him. You have a major scandal that is going to cost the University a ton of cash in lawsuits. There is no way IMO to keep Petrino, if you do be prepared to pay 6 million in lawsuits to keep him, not to mention the bad press on the recruiting trail.
