So the fact that his family hated it there and the team wanted nothing to do with a drill instructor after years of a player's coach had nothing to do with it and it's all Petrino's fault?

ummm...wut? I'm not even sure if that is directed at me?

And none of that has anything to do with the subject matter.

Are you saying that the Falcon players didn't want to play for a drill instructor(Petrino) after playing for a player's coach?

Not denying it, just wondering if that was what you were saying.

Sorry that was directed at WRT didn't mean to hit your button.

And yes that is what I meant as it happens often when the players lack disipline. And the first year of a coach at any program pro or D1 isn't indicative of their abilities. Jimmie Johnson I believe went 1-15 his first year in the pros. Honestly I couldn't care less about the pros. Once they move to the NFL they are dead to me.

You need to step away and take a drink(or three).

I'm not questioning Petrino going to Arkansas. Nor am I questioning the timing that he did it. All that I mentioned is that the letter didn't help your argument of Petrino caring for his players.

And once again........I realize that the letter in no way reflects his feeling towards his current players, but the letter shows that he could have cared about the Falcon's players A LOT more.

And good for you being better than someone else. I have never been arrested either nor will i put myself in a position to be, but we are talking about prima donna NFL players here. I could go into more detail to prove my point, but it could come off as being pretty racist so i won't go there.

It's not being better, it is making better decisions and being careful who I associate with.

Look at Matt Jones he could not even get picked up by Dallas and that is with Jerry Jones still in place. MJ is screwed and may not play football this fall.

but again I think all these comments are circular and boring. How many teams in the SEC would trade their coach for Petrino? I can think of a couple off the top of my head: Tennessee and Auburn. Plus I remember reading on the Ole Miss boards how they longed for Petrino before the Nutt appeared(came off their boards)

And once again....we are talking about NFL players here.

But NFL players aren't the only people to say "Free XXX". But to avoid a completely different argument, I won't go any further into it.

State fans are a bunch of turds with a pasture for a stadium with some bleachers around it.

As opposed to the huge megalithic Vaught-Hemingway Coliseum.

At least they have real grass at State.

Why can't Ole Miss grow real grass like everybody else in the S.E.C.? Yall had to put that Field Turf in. Why was it such a problem growing grass in Oxford, when only a short distance away in Starkville, they have the best looking football field in the conference?......

We didn't have cattle constantly fertilizing our field.

BP had to do what he had to do but I don' think all the negative publicity bodes well for future recruiting. He's already commiting guys this year that could be guys he commits in January. Maybe he's getting them b/c he's anticipating another losing season, I don't know.

And, I think the thing about his family not liking it there is a cop-out. His kids were enrolled in a private christian school, not some ghetto school. The organization had the put up in a nice penthouse. I'm not too sure what there was for his family not too like about it other than he was miserable. I'm sure had those players accepted him and won and Vick not gone to prison he would have stayed and his family would have been happy the whole time with his 5 million per year.

Meh, he gets a lot of media attention for being so great - kind of like the way the media over-rated charlie weiss. This is good for their recruiting.

I love it when a coach is overwhelmed in the NFL and pusses out and goes back to college because "his family didn't like it there".

I know my wife would be a hell of a lot happier in Atlanta or Miami than she would be in Tuscaloosa or Fayetteville.
