I agree. I will never knock the coaching or any team that has made it to Omaha. Only 8 make it and every road is tough...it's baseball.

I can disagree and debate all I want.

Sorry, but LSU was significantly better in every phase of the game than Arkansas in 2009. LSU is why Arkansas could not win the title that year. So, yes, there was a very valid reason why Arkansas did not win a title in 2009.
They were good, but our team that year had 3 MLB pitchers including Dallas Keuchel, an MLB catcher and a first round draft pick at 1B. Add in Eibner who could be called up soon for the Royals and that would make 5 players who have made the show plus a college all-American.

Van Horn is anything but over rated. He made Northwestern St respectable, took NU to multiple CWS, and has done the same in the 'Nam. Is he a jackass at times, he sure is. But he wins and it's consistent. He also builds solid foundations to continue success at schools he's at, if the following guy is willing to copy his model.

Arkansas' coach DVH is overrated

Got to slow ya down on your Northwestern St. comment.
NSU's was definitely respectable before Van Horn became skipper. Jim Wells had em going before DVH.
Past NSU coaches:
Jim Wells, Dave Van Horn, Rob Childress, Cohen and Mitch Gaspard, among others.
DVH kept NSU going but he wasn't the one to get em started.

They had just gotten the dome turf when I went there the first time.
He told someone (player) to go home because they were bitching about it being cold rainy. I believe we won that game actually.

tbh.. not many teams in the country even try at baseball. Half the SEC teams, half ACC teams and a handful of west coast teams. It's actually quite easy to get there if you have a mediocre coach like Dave Van Horne and all the resources Arky has.

No excuse for not winning a title in 2009 with that roster but UK was the most talented bball team last year and they didn't win it either. Luck and getting hot at the right time goes a lot into playoff formats.
Arky wasn't even the second best team in Omaha in 2009.

A lot of cry babies because they were too weak to make make it.The best found a way to be there.

To not even make an NCAA regional must be really shitty coaching Id suppose.

Don't see how van horn can be overrated. Rather comical for the poster to state that Arkansas doesn't deserve to be in Omaha. He won at Nebraska and has a team who most would say isn't as good as past Arkansas teams in Omaha. They have battled injuries and made it there regardless of draw they won the games. Arkansas has had some major talent under DVH and has made some runs but just hasn't quite been able to get the big one.

He just got abused in that game. Honestly I don't think he will ever win a national title. Arky has a top 5 stadium, indoor baseball practice facility, top 5 in attendance every year, yet they always come up short.
Take for example Vandy's coach with 1/4th the resources as Arky. He has turned them into a power and already won a natty.
Arkansas doesn't show up on the radar with Vanderbilt regarding Vandy's athletic endowment. Vandy's baseball team basically has a full roster of players on full 4-year scholarship rides. They just get their tuitions taken care of via different measures (financial aid)...
That's why they can bring in all those top prospects. Same thing with Virginia in the ACC (and to an extent UNC in recent years), and how those programs shot up to the top so quickly, all at the same time...

Van Horn has only been to 18 consecutive NCAA Regionals, 6 CWS, won 5 conference championships, won 50 games 3 times, 40 games 12 times...he turrble

He's a good coach don't ever react after one game. There is nothing special about Arkansas, he does better than most with what he has.

This is quite the discussion on our board. I personally agree with the poster that said he is good, but will never win a title which is a shame with what we have at our disposal.
