are you saying a stud QB made McElwain and not the other way around?

A cheating QB made Florida better than advertised until he was suspended.

I don't know enough about McElwain yet to be sure. I have a prediction about him, but I can easily admit that I've been wrong multiple times.

When was this? And remember Florida's a real program so we don't celebrate split titles where you don't go to Atlanta.

2012. Tied for 1st in the East.

I didn't say shite about y'all celebrating it. 1st in the East is 1st in the East, tied or not. Florida still got a trophy, whether y'all celebrated it or not.

Yeah I bet you hated Muschamp in 2012 lol

I did, hell I got banned from the biggest Gator Homer forum for pointing out the myriad flaws in Boom's approach (essentially he plays underdog football-- trying to minimize the total possessions which in turn makes any turnover devastating and even something as minor as a false start a drive ender-- see: the old school Princeton basketball teams- Its the single worst approach to take with a team that should have a significant talent edge in 8-10 of its 12 regular season games.

That's not what you said though. You said he never won the East lol

You know that only you guys and Ole Miss count Division titles where you lose the tiebreaker and don't even play the other division champ.

Hell, you guys might be the only people who put even outright division titles on the same level as actual conference titles.

Always need a few more years - but I thought McElwain did a good job with Greir and did as much as he could with Harris.

I think his biggest question marks are recruiting at an elite level and his assistants. I think at worst hes an 8-10 win coach, though. I don't think there is much chance he is actually a giant dumpster fire waiting to explode.

Pretty much this, other than recruiting my only real concern is his lack of flexibility (not adapting the offense to fit Treon's strengths)

So other than Georgia, Florida beat nobody worthwhile after the cheating QB got suspended. Florida's offense tanked afterwards.

I don't follow. Everything was going fine until Grier was suspended. The worst thing about Coach McElwain is that he seems very nice and personable.

And except in certain abodes surely everyone wants to hate the UF coach?

What happened in that game? Some crazy shite? It's the true outlier of the post-Grier games

Treon was actually kind of a bad arse against LSU- like a dropped TD on a nearly perfect pass is all that kept him from winning it.

Are you autistic?

I don't think we've even tied for 1st in the East before, so right off the bat your logic is flawed.

I don't give a shite if y'all celebrated it or not. Muschamp technically won the East. I even said I didn't really care, I was just correcting a Mizzou fan on a technicality.

Don't be a dingus. I didn't even tout it as an accomplishment.

You mean everything was going fine when Florida was cheating and then it wasn't when they weren't anymore?

It's hard to tell whether you actually want a real answer, or just want to argue for the sake of arguing.

Personally, I love McElwain so far. I believe he's the best offensive mind we've had since Spurrier and his biggest weakness (so far), appears to be recruiting, even though we're most likely headed for a Top 10 class and I think once we have another winning season, the recruiting issues will solve themselves.

Last year sucked (regardless of wins) but it was his first season, and I think Muschamp hurt the program (and it's reputation) a lot more than many want to admit, or believe. Most UF fans who actually watched the games or know a thing or two about football would say that Treon was just simply not a good QB. McElwain said at some point after a couple of shitastic performances, that we couldn't keep the development of the offense back just for Treon's sake, so it became sink or swim -- we sank, but the offense got the reps and the system was installed with what I believe was the thought that Treon would never QB for UF again.

We're very under the radar this year and our entire OL has returned; we started 3 true freshman there last season and now they'll have some experience. Del Rio won't win the heisman but is known as a cerebral game manager-type with a "decent" arm. I think we surprise a lot this year.

Not saying he's a certain success. But the jury's still out.

There's a certain coach in the sec who went 7-6 his first year. With a loss to La Monroe.

I definitely think McElWain did better his 1st year than that guy did.

Are you really comparing McElwain to Nick Saban right now?

What you don't get is that Muschamp lost a shite ton with that same defense.

But vs a much easier schedule and with driskell's turnovers. It was a very similar team if you get down to it.

The last 4 games of the season were embarrassing and painful to watch. We had zero depth behind Grier, who admittedly cheated (although, to what extent it actually affected his game is debatable) and got what he deserved, and that zero depth falls on 1 person.

I honestly would take Driskel over Treon Harris any day of the week.

Hell all we need is 10 points to beat South Carolina now that they got you know who.

Both suck. Only one was a turnover machine, and that's more costly.
