Personally speaking I'm glad ATM came over. It was the right fit if you ask me. They are more like SEC fans than any other program out of Texas and as I stated before, more rounded in all athletics. As a true Sec baseball fan I was especially happy. Mizzou is no doubt behind them but with Sec revenues they will find several sports to excell in. I like it!

The SEC:
1. Gave us a life line from the most dysfunctional organization in sports.
2. Basically tripled our tier 3 $ in 3 years.
3. Opened up an opportunity to recruit the richest collection of college athletes.
4. Gives us a great sales pitch to The rest of the Midwest.
5. Has forced our university to raise its $ commitment level to football.

So yes, though a few of your fan bases strike us as borderline insane, we will forever be grateful to be in the best conference in the nation.

Keep telling yourself that. History, cultural roots, and the demographics of Eastern Texas say otherwise.

You don't know how happy we are to be here also. I was a Senior when the SWC imploded and there were very strong rumors that LSU had sponsored us to go to the SEC. Our campus would have erupted had that happened. Instead, it was a major let down when we ended up being the 12th school to be on board for the XII. It was a shotgun marriage. We never fit in culturally with those Yankee (yes, you Missouri) schools in the old Big 8 and had very little history playing any of them on a regular basis. Not at all like we had with LSU and Arkansas.

When we finally were able to join the SEC, it felt like we finally came home. And I'm proud to say that my daughter will never know a time when A&M wasn't in the SEC, even if it means not playing tu anymore.

It did the opposite for us. It made us want to give. For the longest time we didn't think the AD took anything seriously but the Texas rivalry. The firing of Fran plus the SEC move proved us wrong. We were happy to be wrong, because that meant we could have hope.

The only day I like being in the SEC is the day in Destin that LSU gets a big check from the SEC Office. The other 364 days a year I dislike being in the SEC.

I wish LSU had somewhere to go to compete other than the SEC, but we have no realistic options. So I'll just keep supporting my Tigers in the SEC. But don't ask me to support other SEC teams when they compete OOC. I might support Carolina or State or UK or Vandy occasionally, but I generally pull against most SEC teams when I even care enough to watch them!

I bet you (LSU) could get the Big12 to take out a second mortgage to get you guys to jump ship.

God bless the SEC. I totally understand the animosity toward "that school up north", and there is nothing Southern about Columbia, MO, but some of us up here consider ourselves transplanted Southerners. I was raised in the Bootheel of MO (yes, it's technically the mid-South), and my wife is a Bammer from Birmingham. There are a few old traditionalists (mostly from KC) who still are not thrilled with the move, but I'd say 95% of Mizzou fans are thrilled to be in the SEC

yea, I have ran into anti American sentiment here. it sounds like you are one of those extremists that want tejas to secede from the united states.

you may find it hard to believe but there actually was a war fought over that and it was determined that you do NOT have that right.

and you really have no idea the negative ramifications of leaving the greatest nation on earth.

I will. Because it's the truth.

Eastern Texas =/= Texas as a whole. Stop trying so hard to be a part of the South. Way more history/culture/varied demographics in this state to classify it by any one narrow definition, tbh.

Texas is Texas, and you must accept it

So the German influence of Central Texas, the cowboys heritage of the llano estacado/panhandle, and the Mexican-American history of San Antonio and South Texas are all thrown out of the window because of a small part of our state reminds you of the three Alabama backwoods???

We are Texas. We aren't the plains, we aren't the Midwest, we aren't the Southwest, and we ESPECIALLY are NOT the South.

We are Texas. The LONE Star State.

No, it isn't like this for the entire fan-base. I wish nothing but the worst for several teams in the SEC.
