Hard to believe it's been 25 years. I remember the day it was announced like yesterday. Most SCAR fans can remember exactly what we were doing and where we were the day we heard it was official ... much like the day both Kennedys were killed, the day we left the ACC, the day the Challenger exploded, the day Reagan was elected, the day we heard President Reagan had passed away, the day our children were born, the day our first grandchild was born, etc. All memorable days.

That is how it was for me.

Hell in 2010 I actually popped a cork when it looked like we would go to the SEC alone and Texas/OU was going to the PAC. Then a few days later it turns out the Big 12 is staying together and we were stuck. I felt terrible, like I jinxed it.

It was such a relief when we finally left the next year. I would have hated waiting another 20 years or something.

-I don't like Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee.

But if there was ...

5 running threads - "ut football", "why ou football is better than ut football", "ku basketball is the greatest thing in the history of ever", "'LHN is killing the conference' vs. 'just be happy we let the rest of you stick around'" and "Baylor sucks".

I literally cannot thank you enough for having Mizzou in the SEC. It is NO DOUBT the best thing that every happened to Mizzou Athletics. I wish it would have happened sooner, but better late than never.

There is no way any current SEC school would even listen to texass tell you what to do and how to do it. Never. (A&M knows.)

I was born in Memphis but raised in the MO bootheel. In HS, we played some AR and TN teams. This is home to me.

Half the threads would be about A&M. And that is a conservative estimate.

Don't forget about the handful of Texas Tech threads about Aggies. If there was a Big12 rant board, they would be the LSU fans of the board.

And most of us don't give a shite about Georgia, home of Kudzu. Hell, in 1864 LSU sent its first college president, William T. Sherman, to march through Georgia and burn Atlanta and as much of the rest of that dump as he could. Improved the place quite a bit too.

And that pretty much describes Georgia...just a place to march through.

I was fricking happy as frick and started yelling my lungs out in the middle of the Baylor dorm lobby when I saw Colorado made it official (dont ask why I was at Baylor , just know it was sweet tasting those Baylor tears up close ...they knew they had nowhere to go). I was happy the dominoes were finally falling. By the time I made it back to College Station the week after, I was madder then hell when Loftin put out this statement...
quote:

"Texas A&M is a proud member of the Big 12 Conference and will continue to be affiliated with the conference in the future,"

But the fall of 2011? Now that was a great time to be an Aggie. The Baylor lawsuit, Waco billboard, and then shredding Baylor's legal threats was a magical month. "Don't Mess With Texas Football" they claimed . I think that was the only time I (along with the majority of other Aggies) ever really hated Baylor. They tried to save their honey pit that they never deserved, haven't deserved, and will never deserve.

Really looking forward to traveling to Ole Miss and Mississippi State in the future. Those guys have really stepped things up and have left Jordan Hare and Auburn in the dust as far as renovations are concerned. Jealous that they are taking things more seriously, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

I know that Texas A&M gets a lot of critisism, but it was the right choice.

The whole mind-frame of the whole state of Texas is "complex" to say the least...but, out of every single University in that whole State...we chose the right one.

Nice decision.

Bama loves all its children. You don't have to thank Bama for being a benevolent dictator. It's just good southern manners. Though your sentiments are heard.

While Texas is unique it is distinctly part of the South. Anyone that says otherwise needs to retake 7th grade Texas History.

Our accents came from the settlers from Tennessee and Kentucky 150 years ago. Our home cookin' is identical to that in Georgia or the Carolinas. (Throw in Mexican Food and our BBQ and we have the best of both worlds!). Our voting tendencies and our culture of independence are distinctly Southern. Combine all of that with the deep ties to the Confederacy that the founders of A&M had. Go to any small town in Texas, especially east of i35, and you will find that it is indistinguishable from any town across the rest of the South.

Anyone saying Texas isn't part of the South is simply uneducated.

No. The SEC is lucky to have The University as a charter member. Any conference in the country would kill to have UA as a member.
