Texas and Texans generally consider themselves Texans rather than Americans. We used to be our own country, and in many ways we still are. Hopefully soon we can go back to being an independent nation again.

But by gawd there's nothing like football in September, October, and even November in this conference

Well, most of the South was its own country too. For about four years. Didn't work out so well.

I'm not happy to be associated with white trash, no.

Serious answer? Yes.
There is no Big 12 Rant.

The SEC is status. It just sounds good so yes, wouldn't be anywhere else.

I can promise you ... no one appreciates more, or loves it more, than SCAR fans.
The SEC was a long time dream come true for us old timers.
Hard to believe it's been 25 years. I remember the day it was announced like yesterday. Most SCAR fans can remember exactly what we were doing and where we were the day we heard it was official ... much like the day both Kennedys were killed, the day we left the ACC, the day the Challenger exploded, the day Reagan was elected, the day we heard President Reagan had passed away, the day our children were born, the day our first grandchild was born, etc. All memorable days.
I was in Memphis, Tennessee buying a new car at Covington Pike Toyota, a Supra, and when I was walking out the door with the new keys the sales manager at the desk, his name was Brent or Brett something, stood up and saw my Gamecock shirt on and said, "Hey Sir, just wanted to let you know they just announced that South Carolina is the newest member of the SEC." He was a big Kentucky fan, nice guy.
I drove home to Olive Branch like I was on cloud nine. Great day!

The SEC has been very good for MSU and Ole Miss. When I was a youngster, there wasn't much difference between our facilities and USM's facilities. We're both definitely reaping the benefits of being in the SEC.

I thought Auburn fans were "done"?

Typical day in the SEC:
Hold up, we got a Yankee coming in to cause problems!
(fighters stop, bash Yankee to pieces, then)

Charlie Daniels said it best:

We hate each other... but hate other teams, conferences, etc., way more. It really is a beautiful thing.
And this seems to be one of the things that perplexes, and enrages, other conferences and the teams/fans that collectively make up each one.
They do not understand how we beat the hell out of each other both on the field and off (such as on tRant) and then turn around and "circle the wagons" when someone outside of the SEC tries to join in on the shite talking of each other. (This attitude of 'solidarity' certainly doesn't apply to every fan within the SEC, though) Rivals/haters of the SEC also don't/can't comprehend the conference pride that most, but not all,of its fans display either.
And to answer the OP's question..Without a shred of doubt, I am absolutely grateful to be a part of the SEC.

Hey y'all, Texans are different because they occasionally wear cowboy boots and drink Shiner. Even the Asians drive pickup trucks. The culture is much more sophisticated.

not one hog fan (til now) has replied to this thread, i find that .
for myself, i don't hate the sec and even like several of the teams just fine but the fact that we are in the sec doesn't make my heart grow by 3 times or anything. it's a place to be and we get good money from it so that's my rah rah in regards to it.
