Saban's timing has been the biggest part of his success. His Head Coaching Career came during a era where recruiting plays the biggest part in a Programs success. Previously it was more important for a Coach to be sound in the Xs and Os of the game, and be a great Game Day Coach. Today, you have to be both, something where Saban is lagging behind to Urban Meyers.

Clearly evident by their .500 record against each other.

Would you admit that Saban is not the best Game Day Coach in the business ? Something that Meyers has a reputation for being.

Two seasons with a secondary that isn't up to Bama standards and the Boogs are ready to put a nail in Saban's coffin

I think that he is one of the best college coaches to ever live, I as an LSU fan am very grateful for what he accomplished at LSU but he just comes off to be who has absolutely no emotions and is business all the time...no time for fun and games. I just saw a link at the bottom of the page, it was Saban and a few select players at his Lake House and I'm thinking hey that's pretty cool. So I looked at the pictures and watched the videos and it honestly made me uncomfortable seeing him actually smile and show that he gives a shite about someone besides himself

No flame. I respect Saban as a Man and as a Coach. Just wondering if when Saban shows joy does it make anyone else cringe

Sucks for Bama when they have to find a replacement because you KNOW that guys is not going to be anywhere near him.

Well prior to 2013 it was "you know Saban is going to leave Bama as soon as another job opens" so I appreciate him for as long as he has been here

He's a good gameday coach, but I don't think many would call him the best. He is just the best recruiter in the country. That coupled with being a good gameday coach places him at the top of the coaching ranks.

Honestly, my biggest concern is that he will stop thinking mentoring more kids is worth the trouble and retire earlier than expected.

He is still a top 10 game day coach. If you disagree, please name 10. He is one of the best at mentally preparing his team for big games. I would also say he is the best at putting people in a position to succeed which is a huge part of coaching.

Yes, he is an excellent recruiter, but you don't win championships without being excellent on many fronts. Otherwise, Michigan and Tennessee would have won more.

I said he was a good gameday coach--but not the best. I would probably take Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh, or Gary Patterson over him as a gameday coach. But I still think Saban is one or two at the top overrall.
