I have more confidence in Miami's defense shutting down Alabama than the other way around.

Yea, that seems like basically a given

Bama was better last year, Coker could stretch the field

Luckily UA beat LSU, who has probably the best defense they will play this year. If they best AU, then there's no other defense in the nation that is as good as LSU and AU.

I really don't care to see UA play Clemson again this year, but if they do, I will just think about how much it hurts you soul to see a team as shitty as UA beat your tigers and then I will be ok with seeing UA v Clemson, part 2.

They were a pretty good o-line. They did not give up a sack until their 7th game in 2001.

ut there will be an innovative coach to start up in HS ball or college division III who will create a way to neutralize a punishing defensive line in the future.

Right, because it's been 150 years and within the next 50 someone will surely crack the code.

5-6 Penn State
2-9 Rutgers
7-5 Pitt
7-4 Troy
8-4 FSU
3-8 West Virginia

Their schedule was definitely backloaded that season.

8-4 BC
10-3 Syracuse
8-4 Washington
8-4 Virginia Tech
11-2 Nebraska

That was a great team, but "easily"? I can't watch the clip right this second, but if he actually said "easily," he's just trolling Bama fans right now. It would be a great game. Miami had superb talent, possibly even more than any Bama team under Saban (I said "possibly," just so we're clear) but Bama has, well, Saban. Plus a lot of talent even if Miami might have had more.

Should also be noted that Miami only gave up 33 first half points all year. Majority of points scored against them came in garbage time.

They gave up 4 sacks on the year with Ken Dorsey at QB.

I don't think coaching would set back Miami as much as some think. The vast majority of players had been coached by Butch Davis for years, and simply wanted Coker promoted because they knew he would stay the hell out of their way.

Miami played two close games, and the common factor was Ken Dorsey playing like absolute shite. If Alabama could force him to have another terrible game, they would have a real shot. If Miami's offense got things going at all, Alabama gets blown out.

Those guys are all pushing 40 now. Probably fat and out of shape, too.
Bama easily wins.

It would be an amazing game but I would go with Miami.

Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore at RB. Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr on the outside.

Sorry but not even Alabama's defense will stop that offense imo.

The U's defense was even more stacked. Ed Reed, Phillip Buchanan, Vilma, DJ Williams, Wilfork etc

If they had a mobile QB. Dorsey wouldn't have time to get it to any of them. And no RB is running on bama. None. Period.

Every year I see this discussion and every year I have to set people straight.

Athletes and schemes today are way ahead of where they were 15-16 years ago. 2001 Miami loses to 2016 Bama and any of the teams in the last 5 NCs (except maybe 2012 Norte Dame...dear God lol).

Laugh all you want. Changes are going to come in football, eventually. There will be a day where offensive linemen will initially block for the QB, but they will also be allowed to catch passes, within a certain distance from the LOS. And defenses who have maulers out to kill the QB won't be nearly as effective. It will all be done to protect the QB, you watch. But then the defenses will adjust and have d-linemen who can catch and fly the other way for a pick.

Speaking of bullshitee... "almost lost?" to a team that had 6 first downs total, 1 in the second half? Are you on drugs? LSU was lucky it wasn't 28-0. spank spank spank. Now go back to your mama and try to be a good boy.
