Nebraska and Colorado were in the same division.
Nebraska didn't even win its division in 2001

Sorry but not even Alabama's defense will stop that offense imo.
What about their o line? That's more important than skill players

they almost lost to vtech ... and beat bc 18-7 ... so, yeah, i see why people would think they'd easily beat alabama ... this bama team would get dominated by those hokies and eagles ...
You beat a 3 loss (at least) LSU team with an interim coach by 10, without scoring until the middle of the 4th quarter.
See how that works?

There Oline was a hell of a lot better than Ole Miss's oline this year that helped put up 43 on your defense.

I love watching Bamas defense, but overall, this is not a good match up for you guys. Hurts would have to complete some passes and I just don't see it. 01 UM would win.

"Alabama's cornerbacks don't impress me one bit. They're overrated. Real men don't play zone defense and we'll show them a thing or two come January 1st."

This is actually a fun discussion, mind if I start another thread on the MSB?

That Miami team was loaded.
Of course, they are all over 35 now so I think the younger guys would win.

Please do. It's really more of an off-season thread, so it's better over there than here.

Y'all literally almost lost to Coach
LoL, that game was literally never in question after LSU got that field goal blocked. Like literally in the way that LSU never even got as close as field goal range for the rest of the night. Like literally in the way that Saban was going for it on 4th and goal because he knew a snowball had a better chance in hell than did LSU ever have of scoring on Bama's defense that night.

They would easily do it.
so would 1995 Nebraska and 2004 Auburn.

Saban would badly outcoach Coker. Both teams have had A LOT of talent
Bama has played better teams overall during Saban's run
The coaching would be the tipping point. Bama players are much smarter (as in football IQ), and Bama may not have quite as much talent as Miami in 2001, but enough to win.
This hypothetical match up proves talent isn't everything (and talent is really the only reason why people are so high on Miami-there have been numerous teams over the last 20 years who were far more dominant, with less talent)
With all that being said, people won't like me for saying this, but Bama would roll them. And that pro style Miami offense with Ken Dorsey favors Alabama.

All I can say is this would be one helluva game. It's hard to pick against that 01 Miami team honestly. I'm not sure Bama could score on them. What does the rant think?
41-7 Miami.
If Bama could only kick a FG and TD aided by several holds against LSU.. not a chance

You guys want to tell me that the team that could only score 18 on Boston would BEAT a loaded Nick Saban Alabama team?
Edit: I shouldn't be too surprised, SEC rant is not exactly the place to find thinkers.

Actually that implies he felt like LSU could kick FGs but not score TDs.
Otherwise he would have kicked a FG

More than likely this Alabama pass rush would kill Dorsey. Then Miami would get worn down and Bama wins by 14.
You people forget that Miami played a relatively shitty schedule. He'll Nebraska wasn't even the best option for an opponent in the NC that year. People at the time believed Oregon I think would have given Miami a heck of a game.

Having more talent doesn't mean winning match ups. Miami would have to win tough match ups all over the field. Miami never played a team that had near the speed, depth, talent, and coaching that Alabama has in modern day college football.
And once again, Miami's offensive scheme favors Alabama.
Ken Dorsey is not escaping pressure from Tim Williams, Foster, Anderson, etc.

And you think Alabama has played a team that's even in the same ballpark as the 2001 Canes?
