Yea but Coach Yaw Yaw Football completely revamped LSU's offense.

And not one offensive lineman was mentioned that day.
Uh, they had 4 NFL draft picks and two All Americans along the OL.

You make a solid point, but I think you underestimate the defense that it takes to shut Bama down. Alabama has a very solid inside run game, and is dangerous as hell on the edges. It takes a defense that can really stuff the inside run AND IN THE SAME FORMATION close off the edges to force Bama to rely on the pass. There aren't many, if any, defenses out there with the combination of size and speed and talent to do what LSU did.
College football is not the NFL - there is no complete team out there. Every team has a significant weakness somewhere...Bama just has fewer than most.

What? LSU never even got into the red zone

that 2001 Miami team is an insane standard - no team can match THAT level of talent
the difference between Alabama and Miami is we stay at the top for years and years

2010 Oregon would have given Bama all it wanted. It gave Auburn fits in the title game.

6/7 of Alabama's starting front 7 will go in the first or second round. Possibly 7/7 if Hamilton continues to improve. What they're doing from a standpoint of stopping the run and rushing the quarterback has never been done before
Alabama wouldn't be able to move the ball very well, but neither would Miami

I actually don't think it would. Miami would probably win by multiple scores.

The only NFL-quality offensive lineman on that team was Bryant McKinnie. Alabama's front 4 would have eaten them alive. So basically an immobile medium arm strength QB, a bunch of really good running backs and an average offensive line with great receivers and tight ends.
I'd feel pretty good about that.
Now the other side? Yea, we'd probably score 3 points. Or 0.

You are not wrong but there will be an innovative coach to start up in HS ball or college division III who will create a way to neutralize a punishing defensive line in the future. And by that time it won't matter because Saban will long be retired anyways.

People were saying Alabama had the best defense of all time going into the Championship game last year. Yes Alabama won, but it wasn't because of the defense
And now Eddie Jackson is out for the year, without Eddie Jackson Bama loses to Ole miss this season

He's right especially with their current QB situation. Jalen Hurts would look like Danny Etling against that Miami D.

absolutely ...
Both of those teams finished in the top 25 which is more than what we can say about Ole Miss. They only lost by five points to Bama and they might not even make a bowl game this year.

But that's the point. No one was really calling Miami the hands down GOAT until the draft numbers racked up in the years after 2001.
The 2001 Miami offense is the type Alabama is built to stop. The real question is if Alabama could do anything against the 2001 Miami defense. I think 2012 Alabama would be a better matchup.

That is pure hyperbole and revisionist history. It's not even the best Alabama defense a Saban has had.

The 2002 team had a solid O-line that gave up seven sacks to Ohio State. Ohio State for God's sake. That wasn't even a great O-State defensive line. They did have very good linebackers and DB's that were sick though. Bama would have mauled that Miami team. The 1980's teams? Not even Bear Bryant's teams could have a chance against those squads. But Bama and Miami had a couple of good mashups back in the day. 1989 the U won -and 1992 Tide rolled. I really enjoyed football back then. Now it's can't hit the QB high and can't hit him low. WTF can you hit the damn guy?
