Here's the top 25 just using win % and sos. Some of these look WAY off though.

Notre Dame 1619.01 (733.03 + 885.98)
Alabama 1611.63 (712.43 + 899.2)
Texas 1575.92 (714.05 + 861.87)
Georgia 1566.03 (647.2 + 918.83)
Ohio State 1559.95 (716 + 843.95)
LSU 1540.29 (648.23 + 892.06)
Auburn 1536.3 (629.86 + 906.44)
Oklahoma 1526.39 (715.9 + 810.49)
Nebraska 1523.1 (703.57 + 819.53)
USC 1521.59 (701.47 + 820.12)
Tennessee 1514.7 (684.34 + 830.36)
Florida 1468.19 (632.34 + 835.85)
Georgia Tech 1463.54 (594.45 + 869.09)
Minnesota 1438.52 (569.5 + 869.02)
Texas A&M 1410.65 (601.01 + 809.64)
Illinois 1408.32 (516.16 + 892.16)
Michigan State 1382.59 (591.51 + 791.08)
Washington 1367.53 (611.11 + 756.42)
Arkansas 1362.28 (592.25 + 770.03)
Penn State 1361.41 (658.27 + 703.14)
UCLA 1344.24 (583.67 + 760.57)
Pittsburgh 1301.09 (575.1 + 725.99)
Miami 1285.1 (631.09 + 654.01)

I'd like to see the reasoning behind this.

Basically UGA is the king of winning tons of games with few MNC's to show for it.

All-time rankings of SEC teams

Well, in the first 69 years of the SEC's existence LSU won 7 Titles so it isn't exactly a stretch to say most of LSU's accomplishments have been since Saban. Prior to that LSU was a generally good team with one Natty in '58.

That's a giant load of skunk diarrhea.

In that first 69 year of the SEC, LSU won 8 national titles - 3 consensus and 5 more from alternate polls, rankings, associations and publications in:
1935,1936,1958(consensus),1961,1962,2003(consensus), and two after that 69 year period: 2007(consensus),and 2011.
- Went to 21 NYD bowls,
- Ranked 12th in wins and 10th in bowl apps.

Most of LSU's most RECENT accomplishments (last 25 years or so) have happened since MILES arrived, not Saban.

LSU was 48-16 under Saban, with 1 NC and 2 SECC,
but lost less than 3 games ONCE IN 5 years. Saban won 10 or more games twice.

LSU is 85-21 under Miles, with 2 NC apps and 1 NC and 2 SECC. Miles has won 10 or more games SIX times in 8 years. Miles is the longest or second-longest tenured coach in the SEC, entering his NINTH year.
Miles arrived in 2005 not knowing ONE SINGLE player on the team from the Saban era. He took his first team and proceeded to play THIRTEEN GAMES IN A ROW WITHOUT A BYE due to Katrina, and go to the SECCG, then humiliate Miami 40-3 in the bowl game.

Yeah, this list is a joke. UT is 8th all time in wins and leads Lsu by 56 games, who is ranked 11th. UT has 2 more SEC titles. UT has been to 49 bowl games (3rd all time) and won 25. Lsu has been to 5 less bowl games and has 22 wins.

Also UT leads the series against Lsu 20-9-3

Again, list is sh!t.

LSU has 2 National championships, 2 BCS championships, and 1 BCS championship appearance. thats alot of points

Looks right to me.

BTW, I did not know it would jump AU up so much before I stated winning percentage + SOS is a better representation of who is the best. Removes a shite load of subjectivity.

quote:

Michigan 1664.54 (732.91 + 931.63)
Notre Dame 1619.01 (733.03 + 885.98)
Alabama 1611.63 (712.43 + 899.2)
Texas 1575.92 (714.05 + 861.87)
Georgia 1566.03 (647.2 + 918.83)

And it is very difficult to dispute this top 5.

Yep. And since NCs are both subjective and reliant on outside factors of what happens with other teams, UGA should be higher than they are on the "subjective" list.

Anyone else notice that four of the SEC's bottom five teams are from the Eastern Division? UF and UG will get to pad their victory totals with these four weaklings for years to come and will eventually surpass Bama and LSU as the SEC's all-time top two.

Well, UT has six National Titles and 1 BCS. I don't know which of those they're counting in this list, but either way I think putting Lsu in front of UT is a little stupid. Now, if we suck it up for another 3-4 years then I would put Lsu ahead.

Also, notice how OU, Neb, and USC have a much higher winning percentage than AU and LSU, but are behind them due to SOS.

Also, note FSU and Miami (who have sucked for 80% of their existence) fall back to where they should be when you take out the massive bonus points for their good years in the 80's and 90's.

They only count 4 for UT (38, 50, 51, 98). 40 and (especially) 67 are rightfully not counted.

Fair enough. So they are giving us both 4, that makes it even more obvious UT should be in front.

LSU also gets 4 though - 1908, 58, 2003, 07. Remember too that an AP/BCS/Coaches title is worth 50 points, while something else (1938 and 50 for UT, 1908 for LSU) are only worth 15 points.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but lsu and ole miss are the pretty much the same except lsu has been very good in 2000-2012 where as ole miss has been below average.

Both were good leading up until the 70s, both were pretty irrelevant through the 90s, and lsu got saban and we didn't and that is what separates us.

Right?

The SEC started in 1932 and thus the first 69 years would be 2001.

According to your school's Wiki you claim the 1958 NC and no others. You also were SEC Champs in '35, '36, '58, '70, and '86. You were Co Champs in '61 and '88.

Since '01 LSU can make a claim to be as good as anyone but that was not what was being discussed. The discussion was what LSU did prior to Saban. Lots of schools can make claims of someone calling them NC's in the past before the AP and Coaches polls became the standard (much less the BCS) but if the team wasn't at least undefeated it doesn't hold much credibility.
