Seems like a good measure would be to add what a fan's interest level is, IF all teams were having shitty seasons, and put that against interest with good seasons.
So, Alabama fans as well as other fans have to rank them based on a losing football, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, softball, golf, track season.

Also, what would it take for an LSU fan to think basketball is more important than baseball?

Having talked with LSU fans who knew what the program was like before Bertram, there was a time before Bertram got to LSU that baseball didn't garner a lot of attention at all. Now, the culture of winning has created a mentality that will transcend the bad years. Gymnastics has done this a little at Alabama, but it's certainly not as strong because it's a woman's sport. Add to that, baseball is a "big 3 sport" despite its perceived irrelevance at the college level in a some places, and it would be easy to see how it could become an institution at the school.

Love to play baseball, go once or twice a year to a live game. Other than that, I hate it. It's boring to me and they're no more athletic than girls that play softball. It's a sport like golf. It takes skill more than physical ability.

1. Football
2. Softball
3. Gymnastics
4. Bass Fishing
5. Any other sport, primarily as a bandwagonner.

1. Football

2. Basketball

3. Gymnastics

4. Whatever sport is doing well

5. Baseball. Because baseball isn't really a sport.

This is probably most fanbases' list. If not, you might have the ghey.

I don't know many men who will tell their son that softball is better than baseball (one of the country's most popular sports) because it's more exciting and played a lot quicker even though they are virtually the exact same sport.

ETA: And the ugly/fat girls outweigh the pretty girls by far so how someone can watch softball for some eye candy is beyond me.

The success (or lack of) in each sport tends to drive the interest across the board, with the obvious exception of football and possible men's basketball. We used to be consistently good at baseball and women's basketball, but those have dropped off the last few years so I'm not as interested in those as I used to be.

For now, mine would be:

1. Football
2. Men's basketball
3. Gymnastics
4. Softball
5. Baseball

Women'snd men's golf are pretty low on my interest scale despite the great years both had.
