I've also seen thread where several LSU posters agreed that LSU would keep CTJ around along as he was a .500 coach and didn't get in any trouble because at LSU basketball just isn't that big of a priority. Sounds like a pretty apathetic

well, you saw a thread about it. Bama baseball? cant say the same. no discussion. It doesn't exist. Well, until they win some.

It is more entertaining. You have a lot more home runs. The bases are closer so the action is faster. Plus there are usually at least 1 or 2 hot chicks on the field to enjoy to boot.

I would call that more entertaining imo.

quite a few bama fans in this thread are listing baseball after more successfull womens sports, which is a joke.

Gymnastics attendance crushes the attendance for baseball and has done so since at least the mid 80's.

Women's softball gets a few hundred less per game than the baseball team, I think.

I don't think many truly believe this. I think it has to do more with Bama Softball/Gymnastics both winning NC's in the last like 3 months.

Had bama baseball been 1/8th less shitty than it was this year. Most wouldn't say that. Also, bama baseball doesn't have much "history" compared to LSU, SC, etc. They have more of a powerhouse status in Softball/Gymnastics, etc.

It boils down to whatever team is doing the best, gets the most attention for ANY school/sport. You're an idiot to think anything else.

College softball is more entertaining than baseball. It only takes 2 hours instead of 3, it has a faster pace, you don't have pitchers trying to pick off the runner at first, etc. I haven't cared about or baseball team since I was about 8.

Disagree. If I want to see hot chicks, there are a million better mediums than watching softball (where the fatties outnumber the hot chicks 5-1 anyway). And most softball girls are painfully unathletic. If I watch a sport, it's b/c I want to see athletic ability. Not some shemale rattle the ground on her 25-second scamper to first base.

I guess it just depends on your definition of interest. To me, my interest is if I'm willing to plan my day around watching or attending an event. Basketball, football, and gymnastics are the only 3 I'm willing to do that for.

It's not to say I have no interest in the other sports, or I have no pride in the overall success of the Athletic Department. If I'm not doing anything, and there's an event involving Bama on TV, I'd probably watch. It had no other plans and happened to be in Tuscaloosa when there's a baseball or softball game, I may attend. I don't make it a priority though.

None of that takes away the happiness I have for Coach Murphy and the softball program for what they accomplished last night.

I'll agree with Bama fans here. This isn't unique to Bama. This describes most fanbases. LSU's interest in baseball, regardless of how good the team is, is the real anomaly - not Bama.

For everyone claiming softball is more entertaining than baseball. It that's true, then why dont we compare softball attendence around the country to college baseball attendence around the country for 2012. I have a hunch that baseball may have a couple more viewers.

I made 3 points in my post and you only refuted 1 of them. And if I recall, I said the 1 or 2 hot chicks were "to boot" which is another way of saying, "as a bonus".

The reasons it is more entertaining is the faster pace, the more frequent scores and long balls, and the quicker action. Those are the main points I made for why its more entertaining and you didnt address them at all. Typical.

Put it this way: If Arizona St. was playing Arizona in softball and baseball in the same day and I HAD to choose which one to watch, I'd choose softball.

Kayla Braud and Jen Fenton would smoke 95% of the population in a race from home to first. And have you ever tried to throw a ball underhanded and get it over 70mph? More importantly, have you ever tried to hit a ball coming from that plane, that close going 70 mph?

It's comparable to a 95-97 mph fastball in baseball and requires quite a bit of skill

maybe so, but bama baseball had been pretty good the last few years. Then all of sudden they tank earlier this year and then boom. They dont even exist anymore. It wasn't even a full season of shitty baseball. It was 1 month. What if they had pulled off a 20 game win streak? this board would have been packed with bama baseball fans.

Just curious, are you refusing to concede that fan interest for LSU basketball has decreased significantly while the team has been bad? You've made comments to the effect that it still gets discussed and there are still game threads (and as I pointed out, the same things occured when Bama's basketball team was bad), but that's not an outright denial of my claim; it's more of a dodge. So has LSU basketball experienced a drop off in fan support? For instance, how was your attendance last year compared to 09? (P.S. I already looked up the answer).

I didn't think they need addressing. Obviously I disagree with them.

I like the pace of baseball - I don't need a 2-hour game to hold my interest. I don't believe there is a significant difference in scoring b/t baseball and softball either. And even if there is, the lack of athletic ability is a big turnoff for me.

It just doesn't feel like a real sport when the field is so small - a regular ground ball is a tough play to make b/c the runner has to take just a couple of steps before she's at first (maybe that's why there's more scoring). Also, there is way less strategy in softball, which is boring.

Of course not, why would I? Have you ever tried granny-shooting from the free throw line?

Like most schools and sports, there's a pretty loyal core fanbase with Alabama baseball. Like most non-football sports, when the team struggles, so does support and attendance.

LSU is the outlier in this in regards to baseball, maybe MSU as well. Attendance at Bama baseball games was still pretty decent this year, even though the casual fans bailed.
