Thats 1 reason.
Another reason is that the vast majority of the country do not take girls sports seriously. At all.
Another reason is that there is no major professional league for softball players cutting out your pro fans that watch college to see the up and coming prospects.
To be honest, pretty much any sport that doesnt have a major professional counterpart is going to get less interest than a sport that does. Add to id that its a girls sport and thats a double whammy.

I'll admit that we have had a fickle fanbase since Dale Brown retired. The last 2 coaches that we have had did not help the situation at all. To go on constant rollercoaster rides with basketball has been tough to watch.

It had to have dropped. But you dont see LSU fans claiming they would rather watch softball, gymnastics, and womens basketball instead of mens basketball. You arent seeing LSU news sites, pretened like the basketball team doesnt even exist. And the problems with basketball team have been going on for longer than 1 year.
Bama baseball quit existing 1 month into the season. That's bangwagon at it's finest bruh.

Well this is a message board. The entire point of posting has to do with agreeing or disagreeing with someone else. It's kind of the whole point.
I can understand disagreeing on what you consider to be entertaining to you in particular. If we all liked the same things, then there would be no individuality. I just happen to find baseball to be the slowest, most boring game on earth. If Alabama was playing in the world series championship, I would watch it, but I wouldnt find it to be nearly as entertaining as that softball game I watched last night though.

I think the point there is that not many people remember who finished 3rd or 4th. I could rattle off a lot of national champions in BB but i'd be taking a shot in the dark if you asked me what 3 teams accompanied them in the finals

It's all about proportions brah. Bama baseball was discussed more when the team was good but it was never on the level of Bama/LSU bball or LSU baseball. It was never a huge topic of discussion so of course it droppped off the map when the team tanked. You can't seem to fathom that. Yes, there has been a drop off, but proportionally no more than LSU basketball. I mean it was a pretty freaking horrible month and it was obvious that it wasn't going to get any better. Pitching sucked. Hitting sucked. Coaching sucked. What did you really expect us to discuss?
And the issue about Rivals dropping baseball. Could have something to do with the fact that Bama's Rivals site changed affiliates since last season. Different ownership, different staff, different priorities.
