Tropicalia is the best beer made in the state of Georgia. It is amazing, and even more delicious straight from the source. Their Bibo pilsner is also up there for me. Same with their seasonal Koko Buni porter which just so happens to be in season right now. Terrapin is great and all of their beers are very good, but I think Creature Comforts is on another level.
Moral of the story is you should go to both, but if you can't I would go to Creature Comforts because the beer IMO is slightly better and it is downtown. Then you can walk to Trappeze and taste all of the Terrapin on tap. Win-Win.
I'd also recommend "The Place" for a meal and/or drinks. Right near the Arch and surrounded by some good bars namely Blue Sky and Walkers. Try Walkers if you are looking for something really laid back with an awesome selection of boozy coffee drinks and a decent beer selection.

do they sell tropicalia in atlanta anywhere?
Posted on 1/15/16 at 1:13 pm to WG_Dawg
Some places do, but I think they are struggling really hard to keep with distribution demands. When I have friends/family roll into town from Atlanta/Gwinnett/etc they always grab a couple 6 packs on the way out.

What's the place in Athens that has the rooftop bar?

Allgood; pretty good bar and usually has a pretty diverse crowd age-wise but can tend to get a little younger on a Friday or Saturday night.

I would definitely go to Terrapin if you have the time, well worth it.
Ahhh Terrapin. Warm days in college in the area outside by the stage drinking Sunray until I vomited.
RIP Sunray.

I disagree. Tropicalia is a great beer, but Creature Comforts main problem is lack of variety. They have quality beers, but Terrapin has quality and quantity. You also can't beat Terrapin and their big IPA's. I also think the feel of a Terrapin and its atmosphere is better than Creatire Comforts.
Having said that, if you want to stay downtown Creature Comforst is definitely the right choice. And hey, you are getting great beer either way.
I second Trapeze and Blue Sky/Walkers. Probably my favorite bar in Athens, well at least one of my favorites.

Several do. Blue Sky is the small upstairs bar above Walkers, All good(as mentioned by Hobnail), Sideways, but it is definitely a younger crowd. And then there is the Georgia Theatre rooftop bar as well.

Well shite, I don't remember which one I was at.
It was 4-6 stories high, if that helps.
ETA: Just looked at pics. It was definitely the Georgia Theatre rooftop bar

Can't argue with that, especially if you are a big IPA fan. It is nice going to Terrapin and having multiple IPAs and other hop monsters to choose from and their outdoor area is pretty nice, but isn't much of a reason to go if you are in town tomorrow only.

Creature Comforts is better than Terrapin if for nothing else than having the sense to put their brewery within walking distance to the rest of downtown. I also enjoy SBC's brewery and their beers, but you just can't beat being able to hit up CC before dinner and bars and music somewhere

I'm not sure what an over the top fancy type bar is, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't find one in Athens.
You ain't been around Athens much.

Maybe I'll check out Terrapin on Sunday, I'm a fan of IPA's, but Saturday I'll probably stick to walking around the downtown area and check out Creature Comforts after the game

I agree. Terrapin is a little better than creature comforts IMO. Both are good but terrapin happens to make my favorite beer.
That's great and all, but Creature Comforts makes the best beer of all time

Most of the newer Krogers seem to have it readily available.
