More fantasy is more fun.
(Although I will admit an anti-SEC backlash could occur if the SEC doesn't end up in the championship game or does less than stellar in OOC.)

tamu is underrated. Much like LSU's passing game, their defense has nowhere to go but up. Chavis will be an upgrade, and Sumlin's offense makes them a dangerous team on any game day.
2016 they will be scary good, but this year I think 9-10 wins is very possible.

It's already happened. The Pac 12 got annihilated by Ohio State and Alabama only lost by 7. No one is talking about the Pac 12 being in a decline. The anti-SEC bias is overwhelmingly pervasive. A&M is a 3 point favorite over 15th ranked Arizona State on a neutral field, and A&M isn't even in the top 25.

They beat a team in the playoffs. Although I'm not really arguing about the Pac12.

It's a fantasy extravaganza!
A&M is a favorite -- yet there is media bias?
They are playing at a neutral site?

Here's what I think, non tRant style:
Our offense will remain very good to possibly elite. Our QB has seasoning, and we have a stable of freakish WR. The O line still remains good so protection won't be worse than it was last year.
I think everything....improvement/decline/etc revolves around the defense. It's my HOPE that Chavis can bring the unit to an AVERAGE level. Think about this... The defense simply couldn't get off the field last year or 2013. They would do okay for a play or two and buttfrick themselves into a first down. If the defense improves to an AVERAGE defense, we are going to make waves inside the SEC. It won't be enough to talk Playoff, but we will be an absolute nightmare matchup for any SEC team. I won't get greedy and say we will be elite as there is NOTHING to indicate we would be.
Reasoning for an AVERAGE defense:
1. We don't have gaping holes with Freshmen being forced to start before they are ready. First under Sumlin.
2. We actually have a workable defensive rotation for the front 4. First under Sumlin
3. The LBs are better and bigger. Still our big weakness IMO.
4. Secondary looks average to good.
As for the ASU game, I've predicted a win in a high scoring game. I think it's likely, but I also think it's equally likely that we lose in a shootout. I can see benefits to either scenario, obviously more with a W, and there will be items for the team to hang it's collective hat on building from there.
What will concern me is getting blown out. The defense remains porous and the offense cant get going. That is my watch out red flag.
So yesh, A&M can be considered a valid Dark Horse. That don't mean shite until the Ws start stacking up though.

Since Vegas says A&M is the better team, but the media thinks ASU is top 15, and A&M isn't top 25, I'd say so. How does that confuse you?

Re: neutral field
There will be an a&m lean, but asu should have at least as many (likely more) fans there than they would if the game had been at kyle. There should be plenty of neutral fans there, as well.
This is not an a&m home game.
Fawx is correct, and the answer to your question is "yes".

TAMU is favored in Vegas, not the media.

They are definitely underrated in that they are unranked! However, in the SEC West it could get ugly if Chief isn't the savior...I say we will know a bit more about them after Saturday.

I think they are going to be good this year.

Still will need a run game and Chavis can't fix that defense over night. Defense is not like offense where plugging a few people in, or getting a new coordinator, or both, equals instant success. I don't think they are underrated, it's just too many other SEC West teams are overrated.
TAMU's 2012 team went 11-2 thanks to a run game that was 11th in the country averaging a crazy 242 ypg. That team went 11-2 thanks to a defense that was at least middle of the road with a great scoring defense right outside the top 25.. With a great offense (including a really good rushing attack), you can get by not having a top defense.
As long as the defense isn't awful and they get a running game, they can surprise, but I won't call them underrated until I see them in action.

This team that the PAC sent to Houston is gonna take an arse whipping.
ASU may hang for the first half but the second half gonna be ugly for the PAC.
A&M has 11 good DL's to rotate and they are gonna penetrate the heck out of the ASU OL.
