I disagree with your take on Golson still. I see him having trouble making throws that require accuracy. He's good with throws that allow receivers to make adjustments to the pass. It could be dangerous if Bama allows some receivers to get some space deeper on the field, but I think that's unlikely.

Edit: Just another note on it, he struggles to hit backs on little flare outs.

Edit 2: Mighican State Game- Offense Only

I'm now convinced, ND may be the worst team to play in a national championship game ever.

MSU was the third game of the season, Golson's third ever start, first ever on the road (that was his second worst completion percentage game, 43.5%, of the season, and worst when he had 10+ attempts). Even the strategy then was much different than recent games. (ND hasn't thrown close to that amount of bubble screens recently, I don't know if it was because they wanted Golson throwing low-risk or if it was something they saw in MSU's D). Hard to use that to indicate Golson's ability today.

ETA: I didn't say Golson's accuracy was great, but "pretty good". I stand by that. I also think putting up a ball in a certain spot where only your WR can get it in a jump ball type of scenario, even if it's not the same as fitting it in a tight window or leading a WR in stride on a 25-yard post, is an underappreciated skill for a QB and a critical part of accuracy, and something Golson is very, very good at.

Fair enough. However, Golson has performed horrifically against ranked opponents.

It's not pretty good overall. It's above average on deeper routes and below average on short to short-mid passing. It looks like he does better than he is because he's got a really strong arm. He's not getting picked as frequently as he should and secondaries aren't adjusting to the faster ball for defenses. It's the same advantage Vick had. It's bad because he's leaving several big plays out there by not putting the ball where it needs to go.

He is a better runner than his stats show because he didn't run for the first several games of the season.

Texas A&M put up 29 points.

Good post, but we're going to make your offense look like LSU's did in NOLA. Maybe worse.

Golson... by the stats....

suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Holy Mary look at his Redzone stats...

Inside the opp 20-

11 for 40 for 27.5% completion.

That's got to be some kind of record for shittiness.

ETA: Don't even start looking at the splits on 3rd and distance.

Notre Dame is so fuuucked.

Look at the splits by month. And, yes, the schedule for ND was weaker in November than the other months. Development is still very evident.

I refer you to past Ohio State games vs. top tier SEC teams for what happens when a team without talent plays a team with talent.

Good stuff and thanks. When you give us the defensive breakdown, please include their D line depth. (Which will be a huge factor imo.)

Eifert, Te'o (we've already had this discussion), Tuitt, Nix, Martin, Cave... ND has plenty of talent.

I get it man, no one plays football outside of the south in your eyes.

Actually, that post was supposed to be in the another thread.

I do think Notre Dame has some good players. I don't think they have the depth needed or played a team with a good enough offensive line to compete with Alabama. Talent helps but it isn't everything.

I really think their schedule is going to be a negative for them going into the game. They've played a bunch of teams that are either overrated and bad or overated and average. Stanford is a good team, but they're similar to Alabama without the Alabama talent. Alabama has played against comparable defenses this year.

Okay, fair enough.

How ND's backups on the DL do will be interesting to be sure. They don't have to dominate (I do think the ND DL starters have to dominate when they're in for ND to have a chance, but not the backups), but they have to hold their own. They can't get destroyed.

I would agree, but I think ND's is better than you think. But, again, we've already had a huge discussion on this in another thread, so we'll just avoid rehashing the same arguments.
