Well, when it seems like we have a plan (half the problem it doesn't seem like we do ) it often is just throw him a jump ball, yeah. Sometimes we'll have Golson keep or just give it to Riddick.

ETA: I would kind of like to see us potentially use Andrew Hendrix (third string QB) down there. He's built in the Tebow/Blake Bell mold. But I'm also slightly biased since I know him well.

I agree, they are very good defensively. I didn't get to see that game, just the highlights.

I think ND could win if they score 24+. I think Alabama would have to make some special teams, turnovers in Alabama territory, other mistakes for ND to get to that number though.

I think if Alabama can score 20 they will win this game, because I think ND will have to settle for FGs on offense instead of scoring TDs.

Both teams have excellent red zone defenses so it will be tough to score down there. I just think Alabama's red zone offense has a better chance to break through against an elite red zone defense than ND's offense does.

I think this is going to be something like 20-13 Bama (which probably means it's going to be a 41-38 shoot out, )

Yeah. His #'s are down slightly this year as teams have tried to limit his impact.

Where have I heard this before?

Don't worry, it isn't like Bama/Saban will throw lots of different looks at them or anything....

Agree pretty much with you (but opposite result ). Likely think 20 gets it done for either side.

Golson isn't accurate. He doesn't just make bad reads, he regularly misses the right read with the football.

A young QB who has trouble reading defenses, and a small, slow RB. Sounds like the right combination to beat a Saban defense.

This game has all the makings of a slaughter. I think there's a good chance Bama establishes the run on the first drive, and we start seeing consistent 10 yard carries early second-half.

You're right that when he is rolling out, he is often inaccurate, so correct there (but him rolling out also opens up his running ability and WR options, as well). But in the pocket when he sets his feet, he does not have an accuracy problem, at all.

A full season under his belt and six additional weeks of practice makes me feel good about Golson's potential in this game (it of course goes both ways, as Saban/Smart have five weeks to orchestrate a gameplan, as well). He has good physical ability, just needs to be there mentally. I don't think he has to "win" the game, either, but he certainly can't lose it.

"Small" was probably the wrong word for Riddick. It's not like he's a scat back. He's 5'11", 200, and he's very tough to bring down, based on his agility and how hard he runs. But he's not going to run anyone over or anything like that, and he's not going to break away from the pack if he gets loose. But he's very good at getting 4-5+ yards a carry.

ETA: Actually, looking at my OP again, I never said he was small, just not big, it was you guys who interpreted that from my post.
