congrats to the gamecocks. they pushed us around and took our lunch money. Webb performed better than Schmidt last nite, which says a lot. I just hope he don't spin out. its a long season, and Carolina can do big things. good luck to yall

Can't believe USC took the series against a team that swept Grambling State.

Glad we won but that ump's strike zone was horrendous.

... for both teams.

Yeah, it was a little low and large at times.

That was not the difference in the game though.

OP needs to update the subject line of this thread since I do believe he may have started it thinking it was going to be fun for him to update a different outcome at the time ... I dunno, I'm guessing really.

Fr P Webb was lights out yesterday, 14 K's is really impressive against a Top10 team like that. He's now leading the SEC in Opposing Batting Avg, .148., and bater SO looking, 24.

The second called strike on Woodman was the worst one I've ever seen in organized baseball beyond high school.

USC/Florida will be the SEC series of the year

Florida is probably a little better on paper due to their bullpen but don't be surprised if the Gamecocks take 2/3... Not just saying that because they've beaten us down the past 2 days... We have a few glaring holes.. It's the way they've gone about it... Lots of games left to play and being healthy always plays a role in May and June but they look like a National Seed ... No weaknesses in that lineup.

not sure how much bullpens come in to play when the starters pitch like Schmidt and Webb have so far. this series has most definitely gave me a realistic perspective on where Ole Miss baseball is, and where we are trying to get to this season...I bet Webb had trouble getting to sleep last night tho. or maybe he still awake, who knows. dat young man was dealing last night, regardless.

I'm still wondering about our Sunday starter and a couple of our middle relievers, but so far so good.

Huge difference having Holbrook in the dugout skippering rather than on 3rd base waving runners around.

We do have decent speed and our defense, knock on wood, appears to be back to wear it should be ... I like some of the position moves Holbrook made after the Clemson series.

I'm hoping to see some good old killer instinct outta this club today though - like teams of recent past. I'm not sure we're quite there yet but today's game might tell us a lot.

Where we've really improved is at the plate so far - but baseball is a sport that's all about streaks so I am not counting any chickens before they've hatched.

Liked how y'all didn't quit last night Reggie ... and I expect a lot of that late inning momentum to carry over this afternoon. Y'all have too much pride, especially at Swayze, to not fight back in an effort to try to prevent the broom from coming out.

Today is going to be a battle.

Not sure if it's just the way South Carolina and Ole Miss fans have respect for each other but this baseball thread has been ridiculously classy. A change of pace for the SECR.

This is another good game. Freshman Pitcher, Hill, hasn't been as dominant as Schmidt or Webb were, but our defense is playing really well. Ended the 4th with a strike 'em out, throw 'em out double play to 2nd base.

I see Hopkins in in there too. Nice to see we're getting so many of the Fr to contribute this early in their careers.

I am excited about our freshmen! We have a lot coming back next year. I'm wondering if Jones will come back?

Probably because we don't play football but once or twice a decade now.

Just turned it on.

What's the Cal Ripkin connection to being at the game today.

Very cool sitting with Archie.
