coachcrisp,

An "uninspried" team isn't an argument. There have been times in the history of the game where 3 teams in the same conference FINISHED the season in the top 4 and dominated the national title and bowl games and non-conference games.

People kept saying that Florida didn't care to play Louisville. lol. The reality was that Florida was sliding fast and Louisville kicked their but because they were that much better.

You're probably right, even though you'd have a major imbalance in division strength if Tennessee and Fla. improves as they are expected to do.

Nay. It should be a 13 game round-robin conference schedule with one non-conference game.

The divisions have already been imbalanced for a long time, it's just the balance of power had been to the west. The argument is a red herring.

If you move AU and UA to the east, 5 of the only 6 teams to win the conference in SEC history will be in one division

Actually forgot Ole Miss, UK, and State. But they haven't won one since Kentucky in 76.

I'm all for it "IF" the mandate that everyone has to play at least one P5 team OOC EVERY YEAR in their other 3 games...

2 rent a wins a year are enough, the P5 team can be perennial loser & that's OK with me...

I'm pretty sure that would throw the balance of power out of whack. Not sure where the red herring is.

The statement is valid. The assertion that it matters, isn't.

I am for it. As a season ticket holder I want to see excellent games. If we wanted the easy route to a NC we would have stayed in the Big 12.

Why even bring it up? It's never going to happen.

Certainly being uninspired is a huge problem for teams/coaches not only at bowl time, but during the year (in between tough conference games). I remember, in the early 70s, when Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nationally, BUT the rest of the Big-8 were very average teams, so each of those teams had only 2 games to really worry about during the season, unlike the 6 or 7 that the SEC west teams had to face last year.
You can ask any coach at any level and they'll tell you that the number of QUALITY opponents that a teams plays during the season is of great importance come the end of the year.

A coach that is unable to get his team ready to play should be banned from the proffesion.

Uninterested or fatigued is not an argument.
