I remember when he got to Alabama. He was a highly recruited 4-star QB out of Florida.

He actually wasn't all that highly recruited. Rivals gave him 4 stars but not a lot of big program were after him. Bama did not even offer Star Jackson until late after we missed on better guys.

Many Alabama fans thought he was the next JaMarcus Russell and would easily supplant John Parker Wilson as the starting QB in his true freshman year.

I never heard anyone say that. Star was skinny, nothing like Jamarcus.

So Dorial Green-Beckham doesn't get penalized for getting thrown off the team, but Josh Harvey-Clemons does?

The more I look at this, the more I see this LIS.

Any legit reason you left of Cam Newton or Carl Lawson?

eta: Duke Williams and Montravious Adams

Because this is the class of 2008-2012. I chose the most recent 5 years of classes who have gone pro or are now pro eligible. Cam is 2007. Lawson is 2013. Duke Williams is a JUCO guy who was not listed as a 5 star when he came out of high school.

I would call Trent Richardson a bust at this point. Great college career but NFL work aint gonna last very long and then he will have to depend on that Bama education he got...

He may be an absolute bust as far as the Colts are concerned, but who cares? I don't think that's what the purpose is here. He was an absolute boom for Bama and was a first round pick. What they do after that is on them. For recruiting purposes re: what Bama can tell potential 5 star recruits, he's an absolute boom.

14 five star picks...50% of them become NFL first round draft picks. No other school can touch those results.

Why wouldn't you use 247sports' composite rankings that average all of the recruiting sites rankings? Seems like that would provide a more thorough look.

Was 247 composite rankings even around in 2008?

I know of no Alabama fan anywhere that said this. Ever.

He started every game at LT.

Good deal. I was wrong on him. Like I said, I switched him to undetermined since he has eligibility left.

No, but they've used the formula to go back and rank every class since 2000 with their composite - which is just an average using the available rankings.

Class of 2010 for Auburn. Its on rivals website if you would have done your research correctly

Jesus dude. It's a pretty damn long list to put together. I'm sorry it's not up to your standards. Cam Newton graduated high school in 2007 and committed to UF. If I add Cam Newton, I have to add every single SEC 5 star from 2007 and I lack the energy to make it more than a 5 year list.

Here you go:

Cam Newton: Class of 07: bust at UF, GOAT at AU. Totally not a bust. OMG he is so good.

Is OBJ counted? Think he is pretty OK?

Clowney had one decent season and one great season. Then he was lack luster, whether that be for lack of effort or the fact he was always double teamed.

All I know is our defense has sucked arse without him (and some

This past year is where everyone who bashed Clowney his junior year got to see his real value.

Pretty legit for LSU, though I think you could argue Spencer Ware was more boom than bust. Just got caught up in a deep RB rotation and then Jeremy Hill burst onto the scene.

Interesting to see some of those names again. Can't help but feel sorry for those guys who are projected 5 stars, have NFL dreams, and then never see the field. Tyler Love sticks out to me as a particularly bad bust. He was #1 rated OT coming out I believe, and he barely even got in during mop up time. I also remember thinking "Freak" was going to be an absolute star after watching his highlights.

Sure he did. I said he was both a boom and a bust. What exactly has Josh Harvey-Clemons done at UGA?

Beg to differ on Spencer Ware. He was a really good RB, it's just that CLM has always spread the wealth at RB.

I think Chris Jones played a hell of a season. His freshman year was great. He has lived up to what he was supposed to do. He drew double teams this year and allowed other lesser known dlineman to get some action. Jones is a stud

I did. The Alabama Rivals site was filled to the brim with people who saw Wilson getting supplanted by Jackson.

No joke.
