What do you think?

I'm pretty sure the 60 yard field goal will fall some day. Daniel Carlson still has an entire year left.

Notably, the 1939 Tennessee D that held every opponent scoreless was left off as being just too obvious, as were all four 99 yard scoring plays from scrimmage.

A few of the others:

quote:

7 touchdowns scored in one game (individual) Arnold “Showboat” Boykin’s record, set in Ole Miss’ 49-7 victory over Mississippi State on Dec. 1, 1951, isn’t only an SEC best; it’s an NCAA record. There have been only three other games in which an SEC player scored six touchdowns.

quote:

14 conference championships (coach) Paul “Bear” Bryant coached 14 SEC championship teams – one at Kentucky and 13 at Alabama. The Crimson Tide’s Nick Saban has coached the past three SEC title teams, leaving him halfway to Bryant’s record at 65 years old.

quote:

52 career sacks (individual) Derrick Thomas ran up 52 sacks at Alabama from 1985 through 1988. Since then, the best showing is 36 by Georgia’s David Pollack. Players who can take down quarterbacks at the rate needed to reach Thomas’ record are in too much demand in the NFL to stay in college long enough to break the mark.

quote:

547 career tackles (individual) Tennessee linebacker Andy Spiva ran up his SEC record for tackles from 1973 through 1976. That’s an average of 136.75 tackles per season. Vanderbilt linebacker Zach Cunningham led the SEC with 125 tackles last season. Missouri linebacker Kentrell Brothers led the league with 152 in 2015 to finish his career with 357. Nobody in the SEC’s top 10 in career tackles has played since 1993.

The Spivey and Thomas ones are just mind-blowing, as is the 748 rushing yards in a single game by Bama against VT.

Walker and Faulk are pretty safe as well.

Florida's kicker can hit a 60 yarder. Leg is legit as hell.

I thought Brandon Allen threw 7tds a couple years ago against Miss State.

Also, I agree that the field goal record will fall. Arkansas once had a guy bang one in from 69

I thought of Pinero, too. He's got a really strong leg.

Darren McfrickinFadden's single game rushing record 323 yards vs South Carolina may stand up for a good while. I know Mason got close, though.

I think that's already been broken.

Few quick thoughts:

quote:

20 career interceptions (individual)

this will undoubtedly be broken. I realize it's far easier said than done of course, but 5 picks a year for an elite safety isn't really all that far fetched. I guess the big problem is that these days if a guy is that good he's leaving early, but I think this one is certainly "touchable"

quote:

52 career sacks (individual)

Pretty sure that one is safe for eternity.

quote:

The SEC’s rushing record ought to be 5,626 yards. That’s Walker’s regular-season total plus his 337 rushing yards in bowls – stats that count for today’s players but weren’t official when Walker played.)

Crazy that he still holds the record after all this time after only playing 3 years. There will surely be talented enough to do it but they probably won't stay 4 years.

Games lost while leading at the end of regulation (season total):

2010 Tennessee Volunteers: 2

***Also an NCAA record.

It has been topped nationally, think there's been two different players that have scored 8 TD's in a game.

Not quite a record.
Ole Miss has lost every game they have led at the end of regulation since 2012.

That's absurd.

Didn't Geno Smith from West Virginia do it four or five years ago against a B12 school? I remember an ESPN commentator saying that the Heisman race was over, even though it was only about the third week of the season. (He didn't win, btw)

ETA- Just looked it up. It was against Baylor in 2012, and Johnny Manziel won the Heisman. Geno Smith didn't get a single vote.

I think 8 TDs will happen in an OT Game with a passing QB.

The 60 yard FG would have been broken long ago, but they eliminated the tee in the 80s.

No player will stick around to break the sack record.

I think they are talking about 7 touchdowns actually scored. Dak had a 7 touchdown game, but four were passing (receiver actually scored)

Carlos Carson- 6 straight catches for touchdowns. 5 in one game, first catch the next game.
You can look it up.

1981 Eric Martin vs UK in Tiger Stadium was the last time LSU returned a KO for a TD at home. A staggering 36 yrs have passed since the feat was accomplished. No one will ever break this record and the dubious mark is still going!

Maybe we'll return one in TS this year.

Ole Miss punter Bill Smith 1984 against Southern Miss.
2 punts in the game
Sec record 92 yard punt and a 77 yarder.
84.5 average for the game

that is insane, it's almost inconceivable for such a high profile team.
