How can you even make the case that college baseball is part of a "Big 3"?

Consider nights like tonight. There truly is no way to compare the NCAA basketball tournament or the CFB playoff to any game of college baseball at any time. There is no Big 3, only a Big 2. And this is coming from a fan of a top 10 college baseball team.

Because it is.

The 1997 CWS final was pretty epic. Sucks for you, doe.

Womens' BBall is 3. Tomorrow night two undefeated teams playing on national TV.

The past few weekends are the only time college basketball even mattered to the general public.
There isn't a Big Two, there's a Big One with some ancillary sports, of which basketball is most important.
I say that as the fan of a half assed basketball school.

Because Bama leads the SEC. Therefore, for the moment, it is Big 3.

It is.
Followed by Track and Field.
Baseball is down there with soccer and hockey.
No one outside of the south cares about college baseball, probably due to a lack of professional baseball teams in the south.

Women's basketball is covered by ESPN, and watched by dozens of people.

2. men's basketball
3. everything else

The presence of corporate money (seating) and stars is a good indication how big the event is, not the fans anymore.

As a Bama fan, college baseball is absolutely a part of the big 3: football, baseball, and softball. We are a baseball school now.

You're right, a very small number of college fanbases give a shite about college baseball. And practically nobody nationally does. It's there with gymnastics and swimming among the college sports.

There is only a Big 2: 1. Football 2. Basketball

There are major schools who are big time players in the football and basketball in D1 who do not even have a baseball program...

I agree... apart from a very select few number of schools, college baseball just doesn't have a national audience or appeal. I would say NCAA Baseball is a regional sport.
The school I go to, TCU, favors baseball over basketball and even invested in the baseball program at the expense of the basketball program. Basketball program went into the shitter once the investments toward baseball started and hasn't recovered. I still hate our athletic department for that to this day. Basketball should always take priority because the investment pays more dividends.
I work for TCU athletics and I hate working baseball games, so boring. And Major League Baseball is my favorite pro sport. But college baseball is just an inferior product all around.

I agree that Women's Basketball is bigger nationally than College Baseball

Baseball is 'Merica's National Pastime. You don't like baseball, you don't like 'Merica, you can get out.

Which gives it more airtime than college baseball.
