Name what? Womens basketball? I am not advocating for WBB to be part of a Big 3. I am saying there is no Big 3, only a Big 2.

Oh....and a lot of UCONN, Baylor, and Tennessee I would assume.

Repeat, the big 3 is the big 3 b/c of professional sports, the college sport success doesnt matter. football, basketball, and baseball are the 3 big professional sport. College athletes go to those leagues to make the most money. Those are the big 3 sports.

Just out of curiosity,
What are the TV ratings of the NCAA tournament compared to the NCAA baseball tournament, or any other televised college sporting championship?

No need to repeat. I read it the first time and your thought is still irrelevant since we are discussing college sports.

I doubt anyone here could without googling

Not googling, but I will go with, in no particular order:

UConn
Tennessee
Notre Dame
Stanford

And they all get more airtime on national TV than any college baseball game ever.

not really, since again, basseball being apart of the big 3 sports has nothing to do with college sports......so your discussion is irrelevant

Just because you can name the last whatever in Baseball doesn't mean everyone else should be, some follow baseball, its called MLB.

I'll say Tigers given the options, but I'm a Cubs fan.

We're not all from our home state like the rest of you hicks.

Mizzou's got pull.

Most people have never seen a single inning of college baseball because it's a shite sport.
It isn't but if they haven't seen an inning how would they know anyways?

Skip Bayless summarizes college baseball well here: LINK

quote:

My TV was still on ESPN2, which was showing the NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals. I remembered that, before dozing, I had watched North Carolina and Oregon State playing for the championship of the College World Series.

From college baseball's national championship to the National Hot Rod Association? Nothing against ESPN2, for which I do a show. But can you imagine college football's or basketball's national championship game on ESPN2 followed by drag racing? What, this event doesn't even rate a postgame show?

Good God, the College World Series can't even compete in the ratings with the Little League World Series! Last summer, "Baseball Tonight" sent its A team -- Peter Gammons, John Kruk, Harold Reynolds -- to analyze the 11- and 12-year-olds! That was one reason the biggest stars of last year's Little League World Series -- Dante Bichette Jr.! Kalen Pimental! -- remain bigger stars than the two North Carolina pitchers recently drafted in the first round.

Odds are you've never heard of left-hander Andrew Miller, who went No. 6 to Detroit, or of right-hander Daniel Bard, taken 28th by Boston. If either of these guys had been taken in the equivalent spots in the NFL or NBA drafts, you'd know the 40 times and verticals of their grandmothers.

I didn't feel like listing all the MLB teams, should have put a /etc, but I figured it would be self explanatory. I would have an easier time listing all of the pro Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey teams before I could name the last 10 baseball NCs.

Sorry you don't have a mind of your own and can't decide for yourself what you find interesting and enjoyable instead of judging what's good based on what ESPN thinks is TV worthy.

You probably think poker and bowling are better sports since ESPN shows them.

90% of fanatical MLB fans could not tell you where the stars of their team played college ball. 1. because most MLB stars skip college, and 2. because college baseball is irrelevant.

They are on ESPN2 just as the biggest games of the College Baseball season.

Other sports championships are aired on ESPN/ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX because, well, they matter to people.

ESPN2 catches all the secondary sports, hence the 2 in the title of the station.

Yeah, I was somewhat surprised to learn Jonathan Papelbon was 1. from Baton Rouge, LA, and 2 played for Ms. State.
