Was it wise for Ole Miss to give Hugh Freeze a raise so soon?

Thoughts? I mean he isn't getting paid that much anyway, but still. Oh well as long as it's not a huge pay jump that would leave us with a humongous buyout if he sucks... aka nuttbag.

Y'all have a top-notch AD. If he thinks the raise was appropriate, I'd support that. Ross Bjork knows what he's doing.

probably but here's what i don't get about the college coaching profession. when you are hired are you not expected to win??? don't you sign a contract to pay you a certain amount to be successful???? therefore when you are haven't you have fulfilled your obligation????? it seems to be like this nowadays: if you lose you are fired, if you win we pay you more than you're worth....where's the middle ground? Freeze did a good job this year but he didn't win the west or anything.

Yes. Winning six games with that team was a masterful coaching performance.

You'll have to continue giving him raises to keep him from leaving for a school that black people aren't afraid to commit to.

It was a proactive move to reward a great coaching performance. Very few people think it's stupid and they're dead wrong.

Yeah, he "over-achieved" compared to where many thought you would finish this year, so it isn't like he is being rewarded for "meeting expectations" at 6-6.

Generally, you wouldn't expect your coach to receive a raise for 6-6 seasons or chic-fil-a bowl bids...

Most schools didn't lose ten fricking games last year

You'd have sacrificed your first born for six wins this year.

No, but it isn't Ole Miss is rewarding their coach for getting to a bowl because that's their expectation level flame.

You were expected to win what? 4-5 games for the most part?

Absolutely. It's easy to forget just how bad we were last year. My statement wasn't meant in anger just saying it for the OP's benefit.

Even the most stalwart OM homers were predicting just 5. But to win 6 and buttfrick State in the process is pretty mindblowing.

I don't know what sort of (if any) asinine buy-out clause Ole Miss gave him. But I think a raise was definitely appropriate.

I'm not trying to start crap, but one thing I definitely wondered when going to the Ole Miss game... where are all the black people? The only ones I saw were maintenance crew cleaning up in the Grove, and football players. It seemed very odd to me. I may be wrong but I don't think you'd notice that at any other SEC school - even A&M where the black population is considerably smaller.

Yeah, its amazing the difference a coaching staff can make sometimes, you guys had an improvement in O-line play and for compassion, Markuson lasted 2 weeks at Wisconsin before being fired.

Of course you guys befitted from this twice with your last two hires, lucky frickers.

As for the Aggy, I'm actually happy we didn't make a bowl, we have ridden our self of the staff that was in place allowing ourselves a chance to salvage this recruiting class that has 0 commits in areas of need and too many commits in areas that we really do not need, better to have some hurt feelings now when the kids have chance to land elsewhere on scholarship than burn those bridges in late January while we have less of a shot of filling the class with what we need. Meanwhile I don't have to listen to another JLS press conference for the rest of my life. Win-Win.

On the field and in the class room.

Ole Miss has one of the higher percentages of black student populations in the SEC or they did.

You are not going to see a majority of blacks in the stands unless you are at a HBC&U game...

frick that stupid clown. I don't know how he lasted this long. Oh wait yes I do our schools let him leach of of us.

And to the Aggies we have the second largest by percentage AA population so try again. I can say in my scientific poll that your fanbase was by far the weirdest I've ever encountered and that's saying something because LSU is in this conference.
