How long will the Bama/ UTenn "rivalry" last?

With UT hiring Butch, it shouldn't be long until most fans have no desire to watch UA beat UT by 4 TDs anymore. Will the SEC do everything they can to keep that conference rent a win in Bama's favor, even after another possible expansion?
What are yalls thoughts?
Obvisouly most Bama fans will be in favor of the SEC rent a win every year. I'd like to hear the opinons of other SEC fans and maybe the opinion of the 3 UT posters on this board. The SEC going out of their way for this rivalry is just a waste of time IMO.

If it ends it'll be because all cross division games rotate, not because we are skull dragging them every year.

Hopefully it goes away.
Until Tennessee regains relevance, no one outside of old Alabama and UT fans will care.

Typical useless post by Trey. Obviously he wants that rent a win every year.
I think the cross division games will soon be over. A lot of good things come to end and this rivalry had it's time, but it's a thing of the past and everyone knows it.

Considering the streak will easily surpass the 11 win streak that Bryant had from 71-81, I'd say not very long.

And we couldn't care less who cares about it as long as we can keep playing it.

Not long. They are in for several more year of pain... and deserve every second of it.
It's a good week when your biggest rival hires Butch Jones and second biggest rival hires Trick Play Bitch.

Didn't die when UT beat us 7 years in a row. Did you whine that it was a UT "rent a win" then?

I have come to the understanding that it's impossible to explain this to most LSU fans. Most of them have absolutely no concept of football existing before the year 2000. There have been many streaks, some much longer than the current one, in the Tennessee rivalry, where it looked so one-sided that it didn't matter.
Tennessee is the number 2 team historically in the conference. Not LSU.

Bama had the potential to come back. UT is done. They cannot recruit the players they need to get the job done unless they hire a badass coach and the previous 2 searches have proved they can't make that pull. The writing is on the wall and everyone knows it, even bama and UT fans.
I used to watch this game because UT had a chance to beat Bama. Why even bother with it now?
I have to think at least some Bama fans don't care about it anymore. Sure they turned yall in and you've gotten revenge. Penn state is in better shape than UT.

How is this any different than what bama went through from 2000-2006?

Bama was on serious probation, it was only a matter of time before they made a big hire and brought in recruits. UT can't make the hire and tenn state football sucks.

Was Nick Saban a "wow" hire when he left Michigan State for LSU? I'm not saying Butch Jones is Saban's second coming, but let's all wait until he coaches a season in the SEC before we pass final judgment on him and the Tennessee football program.

A good coach can change everything.
There are teams in the SEC right now who have recruiting that is as bad or worse than UT and can still field competitive teams.
Also, 20 years ago, you could've said Oregon would NEVER be able to recruit well enough to compete with the USC's and the Washington's of the world. Their recruiting was shite, and their teams were shite. And there was no sign of any possibility of improvement, because Oregon was not nationally well known and because Oregon is in fricking Oregon. Look at them now.
When you get a few more years on you, you will realize that college football is cyclical and the paradigm is always changing. NOTHING IS PERMANENT. Teams will fall and teams will rise. Tennessee will rise again one day.
None of this even matters though, because we fricking hate them (many of us hate them worse than Auburn) and they fricking hate us (most UT fans consider Alabama their biggest rival.) It has more tradition in terms of actual meaningful games THAN ANY OTHER RIVALRY IN THE SEC. Bama and UT owned the SEC for about 60 years, the states border one another, and for most of those years it was the biggest game of the year.
They don't want to stop playing us. That's what so comical about this. They are the ones getting beat, yet it's LSU fans (who clearly don't understand rivalries) who think we should stop playing.
