Bama was on serious probation, it was only a matter of time before they made a big hire and brought in recruits.

Literally no one outside of the bama fan base was saying this.

Lsu was a sleeping giant in a goldmine state for talent.

UT does not have that luxury. They got turned down by like 8 coaches. Even college football coaches know it's over at UT.

Not long at all. Older fans enjoy the rivalry and beating anything orange, but younger fans did not grow up in a period in which the rivalry ever meant much.

They've never had that luxury. They've always recruited nationally and done so very well. Fulmer, even in his final years at Tennessee, was pulling in Top 10 recruiting classes every year. It can be done.

If conference expansion occurs before UT is able to become competitive again, will the sec continue to go out of it's way for this game?

Yes.

The SEC cares about its rivalries.

There are 5 sacred rivalries that the SEC will never get rid of

Bama/Auburn
Bama/UT
Auburn/UGA
UGA/UF
MSU/Ole Miss

Guaranteed.

It took 75 years to build this hated rivalry, so no 10 down years will not end it. It never has before. LSU thinks by playing 12 close games makes there game against Bama a rivalry.

The 2 greatest winningest programs in SEC history will always be a meaningful matchup for both sides.

If Nick Saban left Alabama and went to Tennessee, they'd be on top of the SECe in three years.

I'm sure there are other coaches out there who can turn them around, and Butch Davis may be one of them. Everybody thought Bama was "dead" MUCH worse than this.

Was Nick Saban a "wow" hire when he left Michigan State for LSU? I'm not saying Butch Jones is Saban's second coming, but let's all wait until he coaches a season in the SEC before we pass final judgment on him and the Tennessee football program.

This...........

But regardless, it's when the SEC decides to quit making concessions and do what's best for the conference.

Or when we expand again

With UT hiring Butch, it shouldn't be long until most fans have no desire to watch UA beat UT by 4 TDs anymore.

As a Bama fan, I will never get tired of watching Bama destroy Tennessee. All these negative Tennessee threads started by crying fans is sweet elixir to Bama fans.

I do hope they get better just to help out our SOS, and beat every team except Alabama. But Tennessee is getting what was coming to them because of ole Fat Phulmer, may he rot.

Ah, yes! The old "We were good in the 1950s arguement.

Tennessee from 1938-1951, 4 national titles, 5 SEC titles
Tennessee from 1952-2012, 2 national titles (1967, 1998), 8 SEC titles (last in 1998)
Tennessee with 13 total SEC titles
Tennessee with a 25-24 bowl record
Tennessee with a .684 all time win percentage

LSU from 1935-1961, 1 national title, 4 SEC titles
LSU from 1962-2012, 2 national titles (2003, 2007), 7 SEC titles (last 2011)
LSU with 11 total SEC titles

Keep hanging on to the 1950s Tennessee. You will be passed very soon on the #2 SEC all time rankings.

Judging by the crowd and ticket prices at Neyland Stadium this year, Tennessee fans no longer really care about the game.

A sleeping giant?....well that giant was sleeping since football was invented right through the early 2000's....you LSU fans have an inflated sense of your team's worth....Tennessee is more succesful program historically than LSU.....
