How long before the SEC allows beer sales at games?

Seems like only a matter of time before this untapped source of revenue gets tapped (pun intended).
So, do you see this happening in the next 5 years? 10 years? Longer?
I think in about 10 years, give or take a couple of years.

I just don't see it happening. I just don't know. What other conferences allow it presently?

If and when it does, it won't be pretty...

I hope they start very soon. I hate losing my buzz halfway into the first quarter.

Big East I'm pretty sure

It's just a bad idea in the South.

This will never happen. No university will risk the potential liability for drunks leaving the game and driving.

More college age students go to college football games though. Recipe for fights and puking and fricking in the bathroom.

Eh, Idk. I'm not positive so don't hold me to it, but I THINK I read once that it's not an SEC rule, more of just a known gentleman's agreement within the conference that nobody will do it. Actually that sounds dumb so it's probably wrong but I really thought I heard that.
I know it's not an SEC rule because they sell beer at games SEC teams play in like bowl games. So maybe it'll just take one school to go all 'like a boss' on everyone to just go ahead and do it and the floodgates will open.
Honestly, all joking aside, it would be a good thing. I think you would actually have LESS drunk people than you do now because the need to smuggle in massive quantities of hard liquor would decrease. Of course, it would be a MAJOR liability issue with people getting DUIs after the game and the school being at fault, so I can see it never happening.

I disagree. I think alcohol related incidents will decrease. Its not like people aren't drinking in the stadiums already. Beer has a different affect on people than Whiskey.

What a great way to deter kids from going to games in the future.......no to beer sales

What does this mean? There are tons of kids that go to NFL games.

Serving beer could potentially make people get less drunk at games.

quote:Yeah, but the cost of stadium beer, combined with the length of the game and the lines at the concession stands make getting that wasted difficult. Also, stadiums that sell beer usually stop within a specified time before the game ends.

It already happens at bowl games and neutral site games without any problems.

I agree with this timeline. I just hope they go all the way and sell liquor too.

This. People who want to drink are going to drink regardless. I would much rather buy beer at the game than bring in a flask.
