Of course, it would be a MAJOR liability issue with people getting DUIs after the game and the school being at fault, so I can see it never happening.
Like pro teams, restaurants and every other establishment that sells beer? BTW, there are colleges that sell beer at games.

Think how much better baseball games would be if you could enjoy a cold beer or 4 at the game.

You can at Bama. You can bring a cooler and sit in the outfield.

and you should know that sometimes those establishments get sued for liability reasons.

Actually just happened here with Stillwater.

So, do you see this happening in the next 5 years? 10 years? Longer?

I think within 10 years. The dark overlords that run the SEC will surely see the huge untapped revenue stream and will not be able to resist.

And honestly, I don't see an increase in alcohol related incidents at games. The standard operating procedure for most people right now is to hammer as many drinks/beers as they can prior to kick off and then drink liquor they have snuck into the game.

Dude, I was just thinking this. It would be wise if they were going to try it to start with baseball.

Legally or just no one cares?

ETA: Not much better on a warm spring afternoon than going to the baseball field, watching a good game, eating some hot dogs and enjoying a few beers.

When they don't stop selling beer to intoxicated people. The same standard and training would be held to the beer stands in stadiums.

Don't you have to sit in the back on someone's truck to see anything? How early would you have to get there to be able to park your truck behind the outfield wall?

Oh I definitely understand what you're saying, I'm not arguing. I'm just saying that institutions of higher learning that play games between college kids might be a little more hesitant to do this than a restaurant or a professional organization.

I know Vandy asks season ticket holders our opinions on it each year in their survey (apparently too many old people still have season tickets). I think they might be the only one who could get away with it though since it is a private school. Most of the stadiums are owned by public institutions or are located on publicly owned land and in the south, most states prohibit alcohol being sold on public property.

On the contrary, most Louisville fans have no idea that 98% of colleges don't sell beer at games. I have to tell them this all the time when they start bragging about how much revenue their basketball program brings in. Most of them really believe they're just bringing in more money than UK, UNC, Kansas, etc on tickets and normal concessions alone.

Oh I know, I'm just saying, it could happen.

And to whoever suggested they try it out during baseball season:
