I wish we'd stop redshirting so many freshmen. It hurts our depth and limits the size of our recruiting classes.
I wish we'd keep redshirting freshman, especially on the offensive and defensive lines and in the secondary.
Let the special ones play, of course.

I don't know. Buchanan seems like a Saban offense QB(nothing special, but is consistent in running the offense), which is exactly opposite of what we need considering we don't have a run game. And Kincade looks like he will never be able to get the playbook down.

It makes me nervous when I read an article that Ryan has the lead because he doesn't take risks like Kelly. That screams to me we wont move the chains! We have this special defense, why not take risk to score more? I swear if we have a repeat of the LSU game I will have a stroke.

Take the secondary this year. We've got great depth and don't need the incoming freshmen. But we're losing Elston, Hilton, Brown & Conner after this year. We don't know how good Bridges and Shepard will be, but it's conceivable we could lose either or both.
We need the incoming freshmen db's to get some experience. Woods, Linton, Custis, Ordway & Julius all need to play this year. That will also give us an extra 5 scholarships four years from now.

It seems as if the majority of defensive players and offensive lineman need a year to adjust to the complexity and speed of the college game.
The elite RBs and WRs will see the field no matter what.
Actually, the SEC is a bit famous for our productive true freshman WRs of late:
2014: Speedy Noil
2013: Successfulquon, Marquez North
2012: Amari Cooper
2011: Malcolm Mitchell, Odell Beckham, Jr.
2010: Justin Hunter
2009: Alshon Jeffrey
2008: Julio Jones, AJ Green

I don't think they would get good enough of experience in mop up duty against New Mexico State to warrant burning a red shirt but that's just mho.

See Greg McElroy, 2010 season.
I'd much rather a game manager at this point (assuming we can find a running game capable of consistently putting up close to 200.0 yards per game on the ground) than a gun slinger. We have the defense to win games, now just control the ball and field position via the run and have a vertical, play-action passing game and I'll be happy.

Ken Webster provided quality depth last year and now we have a seasoned db to battle Shepard for the starting job.

Yeah I would too but, we don't have the O line Alabama had and we don't have a running back like Alabama did.

Agreed.
Getting 15 snaps in the fourth quarter when we're railing New Mexico State by 45 points isn't technically "experience."
Getting 10 snaps against LSU in the third quarter when the score is knotted at fourteen is most definitely experience.

Obviously, which is why I inserted the caveat about clipping 200.0 on the ground this fall.
I think if we average less than 180.0 yards per game on the ground this fall, nine wins is our ceiling again.

Exactly! To borrow a phrase from Billy Beane "If we play like the Yankees in here we will lose to the Yankees out there."
If we play it safe like we did last year we wont win the SEC.

I don't know what you're getting at here.
Last year, we were forced to play conservatively because our running game was atrocious and our defense was getting gassed late in games.
This year, we have depth along the OL and return the most experienced five OL starters in the conference. Ride them as much as we can and keep one of the nation's best defensive units rested.
We don't have the horses to go out and go full Baylor offense out there, baw.

What we return on the O line is Tunsil and 4 other dudes. Yeah they have more experience but, Justin Bell is still Justin Bell they are not world beaters. We are going to have to take some risks to move the chains or its going to be a repeat of the LSU game when we couldn't do anything.

We have the recievers to go all Baylor, but not the O-Line.

I disagree.
Again, if the most experienced offensive line in the Conference gels to the point that they are average, thus allowing us to have a solid running game, we can take calculated risks (i.e., play action) instead of Chad Kelly chunking the ball down field left and right like you seem to be advocating for.

Nor do we have the quarterback, offensive coordinator, or playcaller.

I disagree.
We have the defense to keep our opponents under 15.0 points per game.
We only need 28 or so to do it to it.

No I am not saying we should just chunk the ball down the field with our eyes closed but, from what I have heard is that Kelly wont blink an eye and throw it into traffic if he thinks the big play is there. That would open up the running game. Ryan on the other hand is more predictable because if the WR isn't wide open he goes to the check down. Making him more predictable.
Let me ask you this would you rather.
A. Average 100 more yards of total offense and have 4 or 5 more interceptions in the season.
or
B. Have 100 less yards of total offense a game and have 4 or 5 less Interceptions a year.
I think with our D you have to go with more offense and yes I don't know if we would have more yardage with Kelly than with Ryan. IMHO we would do better with Kelly that is all I am saying.
