No I am not saying we should just chunk the ball down the field with our eyes closed but, from what I have heard is that Kelly wont blink an eye and throw it into traffic if he thinks the big play is there. That would open up the running game.

Or turn the ball over.

I'm tired of a turnover prone quarterback. Bo had 23 turnovers in 2012, 15 in 2013, and 20 in 2014. Bo had 58 turnovers in the 39 games he started in Red and Blue.

Ryan on the other hand is more predictable because if the WR isn't wide open he goes to the check down. Making him more predictable.

I'd take consistency over Jekyll and Hyde QB play.

Let me ask you this would you rather.

A. Average 100 more yards of total offense and have 4 or 5 more interceptions in the season.
or
B. Have 100 less yards of total offense a game and have 4 or 5 less Interceptions a year.

B.

Your parameters are a little wonky, however. Tossing out the outliers from 2014 (Mississippi State at 513.8 yards per game and Vanderbilt at 288.3), every SEC team averaged within 118 yards per game of one another.

You would have been better served asking me if I wanted the second best offense in the conference or second worst.

IMHO we would do better with Kelly that is all I am saying.

Agreed.

I just hope to have a solid running game.

Also, I do appreciate the analytical football talk that seems to evade tRant as of late.

It's an interesting scenario. Does having a good Defense allow your Offense to be conservative by nature but still competitive. Or does a good Defense allow you to be aggressive on Offense and take chances with the mindset of being able to fall back on Defense if those risks fail.

Bama, for example, tends to be conservative on O when it has a good D. I'm sure there are example of the opposite (good D, aggressive O) out there

I think no matter who starts at QB the running game will be better but, Kelly will take it to another level.

I know I love it too. It seems like every thread on the Rant is how can I piss off the most people and accomplish nothing at the same time but, I also enjoy a really well thought out flame.

I agree I just don't think we have the equipment to run, run, run and play action.

I'm not advocating for pro-style, I-formation running attacks, baw.

I want to see some effective read option. We have definitely missed that since 2012.

Neither am I.

To me, aggressive means more tempo, and more tosses downfield
Conservative means slowing the pace down and limiting downfield strikes.

Another philosophical question: do you (Freeze) run to set up the pass? Or pass to set up the run. I think that question gets answered differently depending if Buchanan is your starter versus Kelly

Have you heard anything on Tyler Putman last time I had heard something about him we were thinking about grey shirting him because he got hurt. I just saw a picture of him on rivals and got curious.

At EMCC Bo was 53/14 td/int ration and Kelly was 47/8 w/ less talent (according to some). Not sure why everyone envisions Kelly throwing a lot of int's.

Because of his skill set. Taking shots downfield more often generally leads to more interceptions. Look at the nfl with someone like Eli or Luck.

Also been reported that he was overly aggressive at times in 7 vs7 this summer. FWIW

Does it mean he will throw a lot of ints? No but who knows what any of these guys are actually going to do. It's all speculation based on given evidence.

I have not heard anything about him moving to the offensive line.

He is 6'4, 292 per olemisssports.com, so that's pretty damn large.

A prep school in NY as well.

Freeze recruits intelligent guys as well as highly ranked it's a winning combination.

Austrian and Shawn Curtis will be our unheralded recruits that deliver big time.

Also I'm a big Cameron ordway fan.

That is a link to rivals showing some practice clips a lot of the QB's throwing Pellerin has a cannon. He doesn't even look like hes trying to throw the ball hard and it comes out like a rocket a lot like Cardale Jones (Not saying hes as good as Jones just kind of reminds me of him).
