Seriously thinking about giving the reins of an SEC team to a guy who was:

on-field graduate assistant duties working with the quarterbacks

Until December 2014.....so he has been a full time OC 2 years at SMU.....

Yeah good points I think we could do worse if he's a good recruiter for sure.

Short list for OC from a not-always-so reliable source:

Mini Cutcliffe - Oxford HC (i think he was joking)
Tony Levine - OC and ST coach at WKU. Former HC at Houston
Tony Franklin - MTSU OC. Someone was quoted saying "he turned I'train Mathers into an all-conference back, surely he can produce a 1,000yd rusher here"

Just looked up stats on WKU. They were 2nd in the entire country in yards per play offensively. That is incredible.

Their head coach just left for Purdue as well.

I'm on the Levine bandwagon.

Parham is giving more credence to Craddock being in the running

Per Chuck, Freeze didn't even know who Craddock was when he asked Freeze about him

I don't think it's him...

Freeze could be lying to Chuck of course. Ben and I had a spirited(:rimshot:) discussion last night about the implication of alienating Chuck by lying about the OC hire. Freeze would be cutting off his last ally in Oxford.

They got told the day before it happened but Freeze wanted to appear strong so Chuck didn't break it. I think ole Hugh is feeling the heat finally because Werner was his boy.

So was it ever told what was the ultimate reason of firing Werner? If he was his boy, was it NCAA type stuff

Freeze's arc will be an interesting one

- Religious coach who sees no evil and is all peace and love
- Religious coach who realizes that he must make tougher decisions and draw his sword
- Religious coach who now embodies holy wrath

Makes sense. Ben did write that it was a no-brainer he would be retained after the Egg Bowl. I'm sure Ben knew that the NCAA/Barney exception was going to expire so the Werner/Barney package was coming to an end yet thought he was safe anyway.

Need an Evil Freeze meme aka Evil Richt
