He was the sacrificial lamb for the offensive woes and he wasn't going to recruit even after he got married. I mean other than A&M we were easily the worst second half team in the country so superficially it looks logical but it's really Freeze trying to salvage his job.

If we can't be the rebels we should just be the Archangels

Yeah but even with the marriage/waiver thing expiring nobody thought Werner was going to get axed.

I still don't know how to feel about it, especially if who we hire sucks and/or Freeze doesn't give the reigns to the next person if he is good.

Freeze isn't ever going to give the full reins up to anyone including the defensive side of the ball. He meddles more than Oregeron did when he was here. He claims that everyone will like the hire which means you need to be prepared to be underwhelmed.

It sucks to see our program spiraling down so fast with such a "great CEO coach" looking over everything

It's his own fault and his hubris is to blame. Instead of self reflection after we got beat by Florida and Memphis he was too busy questioning people's loyalty. We've gotten blown out at least once every season he's been here so "spiraling down" is a misnomer.

True true. I guess the hype of beating Alabama twice, Sugar Bowl, etc., has caused some (myself included sometimes) to turn a blind eye to some of the idiotic stuff going on. Play calling still abysmal, losses to Memphis, Arkansas, and overall he seems kind of like a Sun Belt coach with his tactics lol

Only way to describe it. It is his downfall.

Worst part is, I thought he was a great CEO type coach, not a good play caller. Now it turns out he isn't even a good CEO.

I thought he was going to be a good CEO coach also. I didnt realize he cant stop meddling with the coordinaters. Just let them do their freaking job. No wonder we cant make a big name hire. Its going to be awesome having Joe Craddock as our OC

I'll always be an Ole Miss fan, but this might make me care more about Vandy football

Craddock can't possibly be the guy. You fire a experienced coach that can't recruit to hire a inexperienced coach who can't recruit?

I think he should go snag Sarkisian. He can recruit and coach. While you are at it snag Tosh Lupoi.

What do you guys think about the Longbo guy that's on the radar now?

Personally I would like the former Texas OC Gilbert. 2k yard back and 3k yards passing from a true freshmen.

Wow, and I thought I was pessimistic. We first bashed the guy for not having the guts to fire assistants and now that he is cleaning house, we are already complaining about his picks despite the fact that we don't know who they are yet.

I find the Longbo guy interesting. He has been extremely successful every level he has been at. It's still the same brand of offense but Freeze can get outhe of the way if he hires him.

Great X and O guy who is known as a fierce recruiter who has a eye for talent it would seem considering he has recruited and developed NFL talent at a smaller school.

VS. Big12 defenses, but yes, that is still impressive

I like him after reading that article. Can he recruit though?
