Cool little town.

Other than where I live now, I'd say Oxford, BSL, Ocean Springs... and that's about it.

Interesting map showing where everyone is migrating from/to in MS in the 2000s:

Its not too many places in MS where it would just completely suck to live outside of the dying towns in the delta.

I'd say be careful(if a minority) in some of the northeast parts of the state like Corinth, and Tishimingo county. Not to say you can't live there but I call some of those places Anna, MS. (Ain't No Negros Allowed) lol

It looks like I'm going to be relocating to the OB area (working in Southaven). Any recs on neighborhoods to look at/avoid? Looking forward to the golf

There are a couple dozen good neighborhoods in desoto county that you really can't go wrong with. I'm currently in the market as well and house hunting is taking up all my time other than work.

You'll enjoy yourself being an avid golfer, but as far as food and entertainment it might as well be a bunch of Batesvilles. Luckily Memphis and all it offers is right down the road, as well as being within an hour of our beloved underachievers.

I've got a few names and have talked to a couple realtors already. I get what you mean though. It's totally consuming.

Tishomingo County is very white. I wouldn't refer to Corinth as "Anna" though.

If you enjoy hunting and getting on the lake, the very NE part of the state offers some things of interest. After that, there isn't a lot going on.

Yea i forgot the percentage. but I remember Tishomingo County being around 90-95% white.
If i am 50 or below, then I probably wouldnt want to live there, but it is a great place to raise kids. Being so close to Pickwick is also nice

If I had kids I think I would have to go to Madison or Olive Branch just because of the schools.

(Too lazy too look it up but I imagine Madison and Olive Branch have by far the best schools in MS).

Not all that long ago Oxford had the #1 overall school in the state, not sure about now. Madison would probably be a good bet though.

Tishomingo State Park is the State's best kept secret: Stone Cabins, et Cetera.

A lot of MS towns have a charm and I really enjoy visiting and eating the food. Water Valley for instance has a really good place to grab some grub (Old BTC Grocery) and is an interesting looking little town, though I'm not sure I could live there. I grew up in Kosciusko and it's a "nice town to raise your kids" aka boring and quiet with a good school district. If I HAD to live there, I could. I love Oxford. Holmes County is about the only place I probably couldn't live. And maybe the delta just because of the mosquitoes. But frick Holmes County.

Cleveland really is pretty good and all with Delta State. However, Madison is tops with eveybody else vying for a distant second.
