Do you really think coaches take the time to speak to a prospect about a song the band plays?

It's about money. Don't kid yourself, Wanderin.

Yes. I do.

I realize there are bagmen, but you can also morally appeal to them to further solidify their decision.

I do not see how Dixie can be a deciding factor in where a kid goes to school no.

Does the dicussion go like this

"Well boy you dont wanna go play for those Rebels. They play Dixie thats the DEVILS music"

"Oh No sir I do not wanna play for them. I just cant bear the thought of that song."

NFL teams rely on winning to build their profits. That's the same as NCAA football. The difference is that money is what you use to build an NFL team. In college you have to convince players to come play for you based on image. Is that difficult for you to understand? This isn't about Dixie keeping fans away. The NFL comparison doesn't work here.

You stupid frick.

NFL teams share profits. It's a corporation whose sole purpose is to make a profit for its shareholders.

The whole "NFL teams rely on winning to build their profits" thing is a fricking lie.

NFL teams rely on licensing, marketing, and merchandise to build their profits, frickwad.

Wealthiest franchises in the NFL
1) Dallas Cowboys - haven't made the playoffs in five seasons; haven't won a Super Bowl in 19 seasons; Dallas is a major media market
2) New England Patriots - "image" is tarnished by Spygate; it's merchandise and Bob Kraft's wonderful management skills; Boston is a major media market
3) Washington Redskins - have made the playoffs three times since 2000; Washington is a major media market which helps with their incredibly marketable quarterback
4) New York Giants - New York is a major media market
5) Houston Texans - haven't done jack shite in their history; Houston is a major media market

See a pattern, dimwit?

I'm responding to your idiotic statements with logic.

Don't be a strawman here because you're wrong, you thick-skulled fricktard.

It's just hard for me to believe that opposing coaches have used "their band plays Dixie" against us.

That sounds like internet fodder.

You're a good dude, Wanderin. I don't want to argue with you because I respect your opinion.

It's lumped in with all the other racism anti-recruiting pitches. It's a big factor with Jamal Peters' family this year. It was a huge factor early on with Carl Lawson last year. It's a real problem. Getting rid of Dixie doesn't fix it, but it's a step in the right direction.

You're the one trying to bring the NFL into this when it's all about recruiting.

No it probably hasn't been the sole reason, but added on with other factors it carries more weight.

I'm definitely not saying it alone will sway a recruit.

If a kid is using Dixie or name Ole Miss as an excuse not to come here, then he never had intentions coming here. I feel it's an excuse they and others use for not getting recruits.

Absolutely no one is saying dixie is a deciding factor. But as someone else has said, its gives credit to a poor image we already have.

Oxford typically isnt a deciding factor for recruits either...but we do use it as part of a total package to sway a decision.

I spent about 5 years in the athletic dept...dixie isnt very well thought of when it comes to most players.

and to the OP....the new fdwl was bound to get thrown out.....not because of some behind closed doors dealings...but because it fricking sucks and nobody likes it.

This.

They just use it as an excuse/scapegoat cause its easy to do and acceptable.

You could go back and change Dixie and Rebels and Ole Miss and all those other things and we still don't land Lawson makes no difference. Just an excuse.

But again frick it all I don't care I just wanna win games.

But I'm not gonna sit here and act like the only thing stopping that from happening Is the fact we play Dixie and are the rebels.

Time to get rid of any and everything that makes a racist/bigot feel welcomed at our University.
