We are the University of Mississippi. Why would it be a bad thing to be called what we are?

You just lost your right to complain about others using strawmen.

I was talking about the leaders of y'alls university changing things, not you personally on a message board

It's so hard to post on this message board...the icon next to your name...represents a...a...well, it just represents racism.

I can't handle it.

What is the name of this sub-message board?

Is it the Ole Miss Sports Board?

That term, "Ole Miss," is quickly being done away with, as is the term "Rebels," in the name of political correctness.

It was a little cocker spaniel dog, in a crate he had sent all the way from Texas, black and white, spotted, and our little girl Tricia, six years old, named it Checkers. And, you know, the kids, like all kids, loved the dog, and I just want to say this right now, that, regardless of what they say about it, we are going to keep it.

You can give these links all you want.

And im not gonna argue that there may be some players that dont wanna come to OM because of the racist history.

But my argument is that Dixie, Col Reb, and Ole Miss doesnt change peoples feelings.

Currently negative recruiting towards us sounds like this basically "They play Dixie and name is Ole Miss thats racist and they are racist and they used to have Col Reb as a mascot and wave flags"

If we take Ole Miss and Dixie away negative recruiting will look like this "They USED TO play Dixie and name WAS Ole Miss thats racist and they are racist and they used to have Col Reb as a mascot and wave flags"

in other words its not gonna change AT ALL. And thats why i say changing Rebels/OM/Dixie wont change a recruits mind. And saying its all small pieces of a puzzle that make a larger thing is wrong. Cause the larger thing has already happened and there is no changing that no matter what we do.

The Best thing for our school to do is to LEAVE IT ALONE and stop fricking with it. Thats when things gets talked about thats when it becomes an issue. Just ignore it. When a team neg recruits us with racism and that player visits you prove that other school wrong by showing them THAT YOU ARENT RACIST ANYMORE. Like someone else said leave it alone and stop apologizing

I'm not mad at either of you.

But seriously, this topic rustles my jimmies, which is why I'll end up as a government lawyer.

I am now eating leftover banana pudding my mom made and it's delicious.

Guess we should just stop talking about every thing messed up in the world, huh? It'll all go away because we skirt around the topic and nobody brings it up.

And I'd much rather them have to say that we USED to do something stupid and racially charged instead of we're still doing it.

So if this message board was changed tomorrow to the University of Mississippi forum, would you stop posting?
