Why should everyone be allowed to vote?

I get that we are all created equal. Black, white, yellow, red, we are all born equals, but we do not develop equally. Some people are better than other people. Why does the repeated convicted felons, sex offenders, drug abusing welfare leaches, and illiterate people's vote count the same as the every day citizen who actually benefits society in one way or the other?
How can someone who cannot even read the ballot be allowed to vote and count as much as a successful, educated man? Does it not make sense that the educated and successful people in society would be capable of voting in the best person to lead our country?
Being able to vote should be a privilege and not a right.

Uh since when can convicted felons vote. As one I can tell you we can't, the only way a convicted felon can vote is if they petition the court to restore their rights and that rarely happens. Plus you have to wait a minimum of 7 years before you can petition.

the only way a convicted felon can vote is if they petition the court to restore their rights and that rarely happens. Plus you have to wait a minimum of 7 years before you can petition.

If he was "convicted" but received a deferred felony probation sentence then yes if he completed the deferred probation then he can vote again without petitioning for his rights back. The deferred probation is a different animal you are only considered convicted during your probation period and before someone says what about repeat offenders, it is rare to get a deferred sentence for a repeat crime.

I'd take it a few steps further and give people simple science and math tests before they can vote. If you can't solve a system of two-variable linear equations, you're too dumb to vote. If you don't know that the primary source of the Sun's energy is the fusion of hydrogen, you're too dumb to vote. 90% of American voters would fail.

I think people should have to pass a citizenship test to vote. Naturalized citizens have to do it, and the ones I know covet their rights and voting much more than most people.

I think you should have a to show I.D. or some proof of identification, be able to read and write, and shouldn't be on any government assistance. If you are dependent on the government, you shouldn't be able to vote.

There absolutely should be a basic measure of aptitude for voting. We make people pass a test to drive and that is much easier than making an informed political decision.

If someone doesn't have any valid form of ID and can't read they shouldn't be allowed to vote. I don't give a shite if they are black or not. The fact that more blacks meet that criteria than other groups is irrelevant.

Should go back to the way it was originally written in that a person should own land before they are eligible to vote.

The ID thing I can support, and if you receive government assistance, you should be able to vote unless there is proof of your family being on it for generations and you never having a real job. Alas my voice doesn't count but they damn sure want my tax money (taxation without representation is still a thing in this country, go figure) but that's a subject for another thread.

agreed, in essence the most important privilege we have as americans and you don't even have to show an id for it.

Exactly like Jim Crow laws except in today's time, everyone is granted the right to free education where they learn english, science, and math. If they don't take advantages of those rights, why should they be able to take advantage of the right to vote?

You should have to have an ID, pay some sort of income or property taxes and have at LEAST a high school diploma or equivalent.
The system was intentionally built to handle a few idiots in the general public, so anymore than above is kind of too much, imo.

Why stop there ? Maybe throw in some gerrymandering whole you're at it
