when's the last time this happened again?

interestingly, i just saw the video for Hozier's "Take me to Church" and was kinda disgusted. That sort of crap hasn't happened in decades or centuries.

and to insinuate that today's Christian/Catholic church acts that way is ignorant, or just lying to yourself.

Christians, as a whole, have evolved. Muslims haven't, but get a lot of free passes for some reason.

I would say the west has become more secular. Christianity is on the decline in a lot of places particularly northern/western Europe.

Islam is on a similar time table. It's about 600 years younger than Christianity, and 600 years ago Christians were doing some pretty brutal shite. One can assume that 600 years from now, Islam will have evolved.

Never said that today's Christians act that way but condemning one religion on their present actions when most american's religion has done the exact same thing is something I find rather hypocritical.

The same thing that has happened with Christianity is happening with Muslims/Islam, in that there are a few people yelling loud enough in their religion that the dumb asses follow them. With the political chaos over there and no true leaders their youth are being brought up to only know one thing and that's allah akbar *boom!*. If we wanted change we would promote strong governments over there and slowly try to influence them.

Give their kids electricity, xbox's and PC's and sit back and watch them become more westernized by taking a propaganda war with them to change the views of their youth.

It's that or all out war which will result in more of their youth becoming radicalized.

And god damn all of you for getting me into a religious debate.

False, people would have found other reasons to fight wars other than religion. Remove a convenient excuse and another will arise.

pretty sure setting 100s of people on fire for just not converting wasn't happening 400 years ago.

i would disagree on the Christianity decline. Christianity spreads regularly throughout the west, the dissenters are just louder today. Plenty of churches have experienced large growth in the last 5 years, especially at the advent of the megachurch (which I find few good ones of.) There are plenty of butts in the seat on Sunday morning world wide, but the other side is a lot louder.

I do agree the west is more secular as a whole, perhaps, but the Church isn't in a decline as much as the Christian population is not growing at the same rate of the actual population.
