I actually do know some churches like this down in the south that ask to see your paystub in order to help you pay your tithe.

The notion that churches want to see paystubs is just ludicrous (I'm what the Bible calls a cheerful giver so it wouldn't affect me).

Don't bother. They're not interested in an actual argument. Just poo slinging at establishments of the morality that sticks in their craw.
