William Bell just said they will tow cars if they have too in order to clear the roads

I'm going to call Roadside Assistance first thing in the morning and just have my car towed home

There are guys in Missouri that make a small fortune on snowy days going door to door and offering to plow driveways. And, sometimes they'll pull people out of ditches.

Threatening to have cars towed given today's disaster seems a little harsh. I know they need the roads clear for emergencies, but this affected thousands and thousands of people. They really didn't have much choice but to leave their cars and get to somewhere safe and warm.

I have a 9 month old, and if it hadn't been for the fellow that helped us, I don't know what we would have done. The state troopers are seen almost daily on 20/59 writing tickets, but funny thing, I didn't see a god damn one on the way home this day. The good citizens like your uncle are the only ones who were there to help, and by god it meant a lot to me and my wife.

You can bet they were out. They were just overwhelmed. I am a volunteer firefighter in Elmore county. We got dispatched to a wreck with entrapment just before noon. Over three hours and four wrecks later I got back home for lunch - and we are just a little rural station in a little rural county. It was the same way all across the state.

The missed timing in the forecast created a cluster on such an epic scale that responders just did not have a chance.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that except for those case where people literally abandoned their cars in the middle of the road which did happen in some cases.

Either way since I live on a hill, I'm just going to call roadside in the morning rather than drive another single solitary mile in the snow, ice, and/or sleet

What a day. Tried to get from Hoover to Homewood and just couldn't find a way. Jack-knifed trucks and skidding cars everywhere. It was like The Day After Tomorrow out there. Roving hoards of people just abandoning their cars and trekking it by foot. Finally had to ditch my car and hike a few miles to a friend's house.

Spann and other blew it big time. Not only were they wrong, they were smug. Span was calling out and making fun of anyone who predicted snow for Bham. His arrogance led to a lot of the mess we saw today. I just find it hard to believe that even at 8am this morning, nobody with authority considered this as a possibility.

If I don't have to go into work tomorrow I'm throwing a chain and some straps in the truck and going to go start helping people get their cars out of ditches.

No way, how old are you? There's a strong possibility we know each other.

Graduated from Elmore County, lived in Eclectic all of my life. I even attended church at Santuck Baptist for a while, and still go to their Fleamarket all of the time.

I'm a bit younger than you, though.

Then we certainly know a lot of the same people if not each other.

When you come to the flea market, I am usually the firefighter at the main entrance off hwy 9 trying to keep folks from getting run over while awaiting the next radio call for the next granny overcome by the heat.
