do you sincerely not see a correlation?
Not really.
Look I hate the massive PC culture that has developed in our society today, but this was just a necessary step for the league.

How come the Hawks owners couldn't have said this? We need some new ownership<

Another nuance of this is the manner it was divulged to the public.
I did not listen to the tape, but I gather it was a secretly recorded thing.
Now that doesn't make what he said or did any more acceptable. However if he wasn't publicly speaking, was he "acting in detriment to the league"
Also was he recorded in a manner that would hold up in a court - not saying it has to, just hoping another poster can fill in some of the blanks on the background of the recording for me.

No, The Dallas Mavs owner is Cuban.

Why is that ironic?
You're not one of those that thinks we should be tolerant of racism are you?

I will read in a second, the more I think about this, where and when and to whom he was speaking is actually very important IMO.

Yeah it probably wouldn't have been as big of a deal if he wasn't talking about Magic in the recording.

I meant more along the lines that he was expressing personal opinions, however misguided, in a private setting.

Definitely an interesting situation now. And I too, would wonder what legal standing this would set or recourse he would have, if the league didn't take the same actions against anyone who commiserates in racist dialogue, against any race or group.

Had NBPA been unhappy with ruling, players would've boycotted tonight's playoff games.
This is why the decision had to be made.

Oh, I understand why they did what they did. I'm just curious as to the ramifications down the line because of it.

If you are banned for life, what legally makes you pay the $2.5 mil fine?

You would still be an owner, you are just barred from all basketball activities.

Well, I guess that would make much more sense.
