Likely. I hit the panic button when you said pale mucous membranes. I should have had you clarify right away until later in the topic.

Pale, in my work, equals almost white - like the kind of white that your gums turn when you press on them real hard. A dog with pale gums won't be able to see a difference when you press on them

Pale Pink -- this kind of a grey area. Soem dogs walk around all day every day with pale pink gums. Could be an indicator of a disease or not.

I think with pale pink or pink gums, normal respiration, normal pulse you may be able to watch him til tomorrow (as with all things in life you assume some risk by waiting).

You can feel the upper, inside part of his back leg for his femoral pulse and count it the same way as you did the respirations. Should be between around 90-150 beats per minute

Ok. I will do that in a minute.

Eta: He is snoring right now. I don't want to wake him up.

Coastie, obviously I'd listing to the vet over anything I say. But I have a cat that likes to chew, like a puppy. As a kitten, he chewed up all kinds of things, but his favorite was flip flips - loves that texture, and still will chew my flip flips if I leave them out.

Anyway, when he was a kitten, he found some of the little foam things that you use when you paint your toes, and chewed the to pieces. He swallowed some. I called the vet and had to take him in, because something like that can cause an intestinal blockage that can be very serious.

I thought of this when you mentioned the loofah. That seems like it could cause the same problem. Has he been going to potty OK? Again - I'd listen to the vet; it was just a thought. Good luck!

I bet she doesn't even call grocery carts "buggies".

He is starting to wag his tail and stuff. He seems to be feeling a little better, but he is still far from himself.

I'm just going to stay with him and watch him all night and if he gets worse ill bring him to the emergency vet.

What am I supposed to call them? My dad used to call them "tickle-toe shoes" but I never picked that one up.

And my mom calls a grocery cart a buggy.

I just got him to eat almost a cup of food.

He eats very expensive food, so it doesn't have any wheat or grains to irritate his stomach.
